Since they are in .rar format, I have do download from somewhere like www.download.com a "rar" extraction/conversion program?

Yes, I've been using a freeware program called RarZilla.

It's so pointless to compress these video files that are already in a compressed format, you get about 0.3% compression even when using the best algorithms.  An uncompressed AVI would be one of the few  formats that do well when compressed.

RarZilla, that is classic!

Thanks for hte tip, just downloaded it now and I trust it will do the trick.

Wow, RarZilla worked great, and easy to use to.    I now want to marry it, it worked out so well.

I'm recording the merged file now.  I had to convert the WMV file.  The MOV was really jumpy.  The screen kept blinking out and the audio was horrible.  The WMV isn't as good picture wise but who cares anyway,  it's a fan made Star Trek episode.  How good can it be anyway.

Well, two options:

1) Download the DVD version from the STNV folks. Burn it to disc, then follow the standard process. When you get to the "Edit the soundtrack with the rifftrax" step, you'll need to add a few seconds of silence to the rifftrax  at various points to keep the trax in synch. It'll be a little more time intensive, but that requires no additional software beyond what you already have.

2) Download the wmv or QT file. (Stay away from the Real file. Prying their player off your computer is never fun.) Then grab a program called "DVD Flick" which will you can then use to convert a QT or WMV file into a DVD. Then back to the usual process.

I'm not sure why it's not showing up on the catalogue or why the first link changed, but here it is:

It is showing up in the catalogue but I guess the link changed when I edited some settings in our URL generating scheme.

It shows up here http://www.rifftrax.com/rifftrax?page=2 (just under X-files)

Great, thank you.

I wasn't sure if it was some kind of silent cover-up.  *shifty eyes towards the X-Files*
