I LOVE LOVE this song. It makes me sort of mad then whenever Beyonce (who is talented in her own right...tho, not really) farts and I have to hear it everyday for the rest of my life. But an honest-to-god talented singer/songwriter cannot get any play...at least on the radio in my area.

I saw Duotone in concert the other day.  They're pretty awesome:

One of my buddies subjected me to this during a commute last night...I'm really not happy about how much I like it. This is really my first exposure to a full album of theirs and judging by the fact that most of the die-hards seem to hate this one, I think this is a new direction...kind of Bruce Springsteen meets synth pop by way of Queen. Either way, I approve.
Any issues with the RiffTrax main page should be directed to support@rifftrax.com Attempts to engage with me directly about such matters will result in ridicule.

I had some expiring music credit from Amazon so I bought Ellie Goulding's album, Halcyon.  She's pretty cool:

Bringing this thread back from the dead:

I just bought a bunch of random LP's on Ebay.  I don't even know what most of them are.  Two things I love when listening to music, randomness and surprises!

Anyway, first out of box #1 of 3:

Robert Cray Band - Strong Persuader

Never had this album back in the day, but always like Smoking Gun.

So you bought like a blind box of LPs?

Pretty much.  I look for people selling batches of albums and usually they only show a few of them on the main image. If they have one or two albums that I like, I don't usually look at the rest.  Especially if I can get it dirt cheap with free shipping so there is little risk.

There is also a rather large box sitting here which may contain 40-50 VHS or Beta tapes (old video store rentals I think)  Not even going to open that one until I listen to these LP's.

I do already have quite a few albums, so there is also a risk of duplicates doing it this way.

Anyway, next out of the box -

The Firm's self-titled album

I did have this one back when it came out.  Cool to have this on vinyl again.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/YDjRFTIhxnA?hl=en_US&amp;amp;version=3" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/YDjRFTIhxnA?hl=en_US&amp;amp;version=3</a>

Edit:  OK, listening to this album for the first time in ages.  Completely forgot about the worst version of "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" that has ever been put to record.  Thing is Paul Rodgers is a great rock vocalist and should be able to sing the shit out of anything.  Don't know what happened there.  Yikes!  Still dig him though, a legend!

Maybe I am just an old fogey but there is something about holding an album cover in your hands and gazing at the artwork or pictures, reading the back and inner sleeve.

For me, it makes the music experience much more enjoyable than just queuing up tracks on Spotify or iTunes.

I have been on a bit of an eBay binge these last few weeks, so I have a lot more "old" media on the way.  Can't wait!

oooh, a good one next up!

Re-Flex - The Politics Of Dancing

Early '80s synth-pop.  Cool stuff.

My girlfriend used to do this when we had a little more disposable income.  That was how we discovered the Fabulous Poodles!

Great New Wave band.

Currently listening to Love Canon (a Charlottesville, VA-based bluegrass/folk 80s cover band).  I'm finding that some of their covers work better than others.   There's also a few odd ones, like their cover of Olivia Newton-John's "Physical."

I think I just realized I like ELO.  Mr Blue Sky is a pretty awesome song, and Evil Woman is not bad either.  Also, I rewatched the Muppet Movie.  Paul Williams is an amazing songwriter.
