Dark Water DVD Covers
« on: May 16, 2008, 05:18:41 PM »
I hope the fact that there is not an already existing thread for Dark Water covers  does not mean that people are not snapping this one up.   It is a RIOT and I cannot wait for House of Wax.

You spelled her name wrong on the front.

Is it wrong?    That is how her name is spelled in the IMDB...... but they have been known to have a mistake or two.

Jennifer Connelly.

2 N's, 2 L's, only 1 E.

Like your back cover.    :D

It may be hard to tell on the preview, but the name really is spelled correctly.   The name Connelly looks like Conneely on the preview due to the jpg compression and a white spot in the water) but it really is spelled correctly.

You guys had me wondering why the jpg I got from the Dark Water CD-ROM press kit was wrong.    :P

For the back, I just went with the recording studio look since that is how they do record the riffs.   And the "wax head" effect started on the Rhino DVDs and I just liked its cheesey factor.

Oh, wow, you're right.  That's weird though.  Maybe a different color would help.

Stupid me hit the MAIL icon instead of the FTP icon.   I am sorry about that!

P.S.   The "L" really does look like an "L" when printed out and not an extra third nipple "E"

PSLOwner...try outlining the lettering in black or perhaps a drop shadow?

The front text is really just a jpeg file that came from the publicity kit.    It originally had a black background surrounding it and I cut out the background..... maybe I cut out too much.

I will play and see what I can do.   Sadly, my Photoshop Elements does not have too many text tricks up its sleeve.    I may just have to enter text in manually.

If you have not watched this one yet, please do so.   Solo riffs are hard to do, but his sounds pretty natural.   And the movie is perfect for his style too.

Thank you all for the comments about the text on the front being too hard to read.   I've adjusted it and you can now actually see the lettering without too much squinting!    I've updated the preview at the top of the thread.   When printed, it is very easy to read.

I love that front image (the film makers must have too as that was the largest jpg in the kit), but that black and white water sure made it hard to put in text.

Thanks again all, I appreciate it.
