I have not seen the movie, but I know that the dog that Wil Smith pals around with has to be killed by him when he sees the dog turning vampire/zombie/mutant or whatever everyone else turns into.

I WILL NOT WATCH any movie where the big loveable buddy dog dies as that would be too sad for me to watch (yeah, a 44 year old man would cry, so shut up).

Is this a movie I should watch, or is the dog's death not that traumatic?

Thank you all in advance.

It's pretty damned traumatic, if you ask me.

Will Smith actually acts in that scene and shows emotion and everything.  I'd take a pass.

Perfectly understandable I'm 32 (I think, yeah pretty sure I'm 32) and I feel the same way, actually any animal in distress in a film disturbs me.

Meh.  It's a fictional movie, so animals in distress don't bother me as much as I know it's not real.  Films like Cannibal Holocaust though...

Ah, thank you all for the input, that is what I was afraid of.    I guess there will be ONE rifftax I will not own.

 :'( :'( :'(

Maybe the place the makes the "CleanFlix" movies can make a version that skips the dog dying.

Oh I know it's fiction but it's sort of like a phobia, even though I know nothing bad really happened I still get upset.

It's pretty good though, until the ending where I go "I don't know what's going on anymore"

I'm still not sure if Smith had to break the dog's neck or just strangle him. But yeah, slow and painful doggy death. You could always do what I do when I can't watch something on a Rifftrax: mute the movie part and close your eyes, then just listen to their riff for the part. You miss a bit, but not much.
It got me through the talky parts in Transformers.

If it makes any difference, it just shows his face and reaction to what he's doing instead of him actually doing it.
