Am I a bad person when the first thing I thought when I heard the news was "Well, they can finally take his gun now."

Only if I'm a bad person for wondering when the Heston-flavored Soylent Green is going to come out.
Where's everybody calling names about people making jokes so soon after him dying?

You suck, PSCD. Your humor is, um, not humorous. Even if you didn't make a joke, I'm blaming you anyway.

:P

Heston was either libertarian or liberal in those days, but started leaning towards the right-wing as his life went on.

Not an uncommon journey.

Quote
"Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has not heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains." - Sir Winston Churchill

Ahhh, I've often had that misquoted at me then. You learn something new every day.

Ah like I said it makes sense. Also, you have to amend Guizot. for it to make sense since it originally runs:

Quote
Not to be a republican at 20 is proof of want of heart; to be one at 30 is proof of want of head.

Because republican, in the context of French politics is analogous to liberal.

Mostly in the talkbacks at AICN.

Funny enough, when I heard Heston had died, that scene from Wayne's World was the first thing I thought of. Not Ten Commandments or Ben Hur or even Planet of the Apes. Nope . . . it was a few lines in Wayne's World. Maybe it was because it showed that not only was he a great actor, but a guy with a good sense of humor who didn't take himself too seriously.

Man, I haven't seen that clip in years.  I laughed very hard indeed.
