What recent cancellations have pissed you off?

Was BoP any good? I liked the comic series...

I wish I could say it was. Birds of Prey was trying mightily to emulate the success of Smallville, to no effect whatsoever. They made the Huntress a metahuman with no weapons, and they made Dinah Lance NOT be Black Canary, but rather the daughter of the actual Black Canary (called Caroline Lance in this version). Worse, they wanted to be able to use footage from Batman Returns to save money on the flashback sequences, so they locked themselves into that design for Batman (who only appears in flashback sequences; the series is set seven years after Batman's last known appearance), and into the whole Catwoman = blonde thing (don't worry; she only appears in flashback, too). Also, metahumans are considered a sort of persecuted "invisible" minority, a la Marvel's mutants, and Batman isn't known by the current citizens of New Gotham (don't ask), even as a myth.

The concept might have worked, but the show just never had particularly good writing.

I'll disagree a bit with GB here. The series was kinda so-so, and the changes made that took it away from the comic's premise weren't terribly sensible but the show was getting better, in my opinion. It just ran out of time. (And seriously, WB, you had nothing to replace it with once it was off the air. I think it got replaced with some of their generic sitcoms.)  But, since I still have the VHS tapes that I taped off the air, I'll be picking it up. (I still have a bootleg of the pilot as well. I think. It never really played well even when it was new.)

On the bright side though, the much better critically received Freakazoid comes out on DVD on the 29th, a mere 2 weeks after BoP.

Don't be bitchy, dear. For better or worse, Smallville is in the home stretch of its seventh season, and it's already been renewed for an eighth (I can hear James of Linhood's teeth grinding from here).

I think its main problem was that it started off with a concept, without a strong idea as to a direction.

Heh.  The show really doesn't bother me anymore, as I don't watch it.  I find it kinda funny that Tom Welling as college-age Clark is about 5 years older than Dean Cain was when he debuted as adult Clark though.

Yeah; he is older than Brandon Routh, too. And Michael Rosenbaum, who plays Lex, is pushing 35.

I think you're missing the point. Tom Welling is over thirty. The actors who play his friends clock in at twenty-six and up. They're playing characters who are barely twenty. When you figure in Michael Rosenbaum, who's playing a character in his mid-late twenties, the message is clear: if they've got a point with the story they're telling, the show's creators had better hurry the hell up and get to it (seriously; they're seven seasons in, and Clark still can't fly?).

Exactly, and the storyline is now butting up against that restriction. Hard. At some point, the show has to stop trying to hang on to the original premise of "the wacky adventures of Clark Kent in Smallville," and start showing, more concretely, the path that leads to him becoming Superman.

Meh, for all of its faults, I still quite like The Adventures of Lois and Clark.

Lois and Clark was the first time I warmed up to the post-Crisis idea of Clark's parents remaining alive into his adulthood.
