If they release a new mp3 with the sound effect added in, the old gunshot-less one will become a valuable collector's item.

I imagine a healthy black market of internet traders clamouring for copies of the original file, offering up rare photos of Britney Spears with all of her clothes on in exchange for the unmodified track.
