I think they are pretty funny and expect them to get better as they go along.

I look forward to episode two.

Does anyone know what movie they will be riffing yet?

FINE

Yes. The next movie is Lady Frankenstine, to be followed by "Bloody Pit of Horror"  (with short The Talking Car) and then The Satanic Brides of Dracula with short Ghost Rider (no, not the Nicolas Cage one)

Oh wow, they've planned pretty far ahead then.

Lady Frankenstine sounds pretty cool!

And is there a release date yet?

Someone said the end of this month in the other thread.  I've seen Lady Frankenstein before, and it's got some nudey bits in it, so I'm guessing either the show is looking to be a little more adult with its offerings or they'll just cut it out.

Thanx. I supposed that i should've guessed that one myself, huh? Well, regardless... their website is nothing more than a link to the same MySpaceTV video for now. I'll keep an eye on it though. They have to update it eventually, right? Either that, or i'll just walk away from my computer tonight and let the stupid thing take it's sweet time loading... then hope i don't forget about it and just close my browser tomorrow morning!

Their MySpace person, who is super duper nice and quick to answer, said the nudity is left alone, but they're going to cover it in the internet preview.

She also told me they're probably dropping Satantic Rites until later when they can afford to buy the rights because there's an issue determining if it truly is public domain without going through a lot of legal crap.

How would someone even find out if a movie was public domain if it was in question?  Entertainment Layer?  I'd love to see them riff that movie.

I also heard they're gonna do "Werewolf in a Girls' Dormitory" in Satanic Rites' steed for now.  Hilarious title.

Check out YouTube and search for "icwxp" and you can watch the first 30 minutes.  Sadly, because YouTube is the shitehole it is, it's split into several different parts.

I imagine any movie that can be bought as a $1 dvd is in the public domain.

Not necessarily!  I've seen Satanic Rites for a few bucks in the Wal-Mart bin many moons ago just like you've said, but it seems some people think Hammer still owns the rights and it can cost as much as $10 - $15 bucks online.

On it's archive.org page, someone wrote:

I hate to spoil things guys even though I am a huge Hammer fan but The Satanic Rites Of Dracula is still within copyright and has another 35 years left as copyright lasts 70 years. Please read the next paragraph:

Copyright is an unregistered right, which means that it arises automatically on the creation of the material, provided that: the material is original; recorded in a permanent form; originates from the author; and involves a substantial amount of independent skill and labour by the creator. The work does not, however, have to be new or imaginative or creative to be protected, provided that the other conditions described above apply. Copyright extends to the life of the author plus 70 years after their death. For a film, the period for copyright extends to 70 years after the death of the last to die of the writer, director, producer or composer.

Weird... there's more on the subject of this movie's copyright here: http://www.archive.org/details/The_Satanic_Rites_of_Dracula

Ha-ha, the title alone is worth the $8.

o_o huh.

If that's the case, then how can anything made after 1938 be available for riffing, and why do the same movies seem to circulate within movie mega packs? How can some movies be played, viewed, and even downloaded legally for free?
