shows you watched as a kid?
« on: March 10, 2008, 06:31:41 PM »
My question is.... what  shows did you watched as a kid?   And as an adult did you watched them again and realized how great the show was or were you disappointed and realized how much they sucked?

Mine was ISIS.  I couldn't get enough of ISIS on Saturday mornings.  About 6 months ago I went to a Mostercon in NJ and picked up a DVD on my awesome show.   I was so disappointed when I watched it and I couldn't believe that I actually liked it back then.  But it's not like I had a choice to watch what I wanted on TV back then. ( a whole 3 stations to choice from.)

Well guys and gals..let me know your story.

Depends on what stage of childhood you're talking about I guess, some of them are going to be hard to remember though, especially Saturday morning stuff.  I would spend half the day Saturday for a huge chunk of years flipping though different cartoons.

A couple shows I can think of off the top of my head were Roundhouse and You Can't Do That on Television, and I haven't seen either of them in many years.  I'll have to check YouTube or something to see if they still hold up to being as good as I remember.

That one puppet show with the guy and the reindeer watching movies.  I watched that a lot when I was a kid.   ;D

I love and miss late 80s/early 90s Nickelodeon and MTV.  I loved (and still love) Clarissa Explains it All, Pete & Pete, Daria, The State, Salute Your Shorts, actual music videos, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, and Doug.  I also watched Saved by the Bell like crazy and can easily recite many episodes (a fact of which I'm strangely proud), as well as the other TNBC shows, California Dreams and Hang Time.  Boy Meets World is also very important to my life.

Hunter, Knight Rider, Dukes of Hazzard, Fall Guy, Love Boat, Fantasy Island I loved them all as a kid and have tried watching them as an adult and couldn't get into them at all.  Giligan's Island, Incredible Hulk, Looney Tunes I can still watch as an adult with no problems!

Eh, I don't remember the whole lot of them, but I do remember my favorite ones as a kid. My favorites have to be Freakazoid and Earthworm Jim. Some of the humor was over my head, but I still liked them. When I watched them again, I was able to enjoy the jokes that I didn't get as a kid.

This'll date me, but I watched all the standard 80s cartoon selection (Transformers, Silverhawks, etc), Knight Rider, A Team, Dukes of Hazzard, original Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers....Probably more. I also enjoyed more classic fare like the Twilight Zone, original Star Trek and Tales From The Darkside. I went light on sitcoms, enjoying Night Court exclusively. All the other sitcoms I wound up watching because my family watched them.

Good question, excellent show\

Jeeves and Wooster
Nice solid entertainment and much more entertaining than the Ian Carmichael version

The Good Life
Was it actually called that in the US? The DVDs all say Good Neighbours. But yes an excellent show, I love Margo. Penelope Keith is a brilliant comedic actress, ever see To The Manor Born?

Yes Minister
Excellent show and I want to get it on DVD but they're so damn expensive

I'd also add

Monkey Magic
Star Fleet
Century Falls

Ah yes that's how i know all the presidents :)

Though the version of that song in the show itself isn't as biting as the one on the CD.

It's true. Some of the bits that were amusing as a kid fall flat as a young adult, but there was a lot of brilliant writing on that show. And on PATB.

I agree with you on these ones.

One that you forgot to mention is Airwolf. I even bought the DVD's to watch again, but I couldn't get into it again...so I sold them on flEa~Bay.
