Anyone out there who can verify if that one "The Highlander is a New York Street Detective" series on FOX is as terrible as it looks?  Because I sure as hell ain't watching it.
Correction: the coat hanger should be upside down.

Haven't seen it either, mostly because I keep forgetting it's on.

However, from your title, I guessed you'd be referring to last night's Simpsons episode, which made a McCloud reference.

See I thought they were doing another Angel (I'm also not too au fait with Highlander the Series) What the hell is this thing about being immortal unless he find his true love.

Sounds like advice to get into swinging and never look for one's true love then.

Swingtown is an upcoming American television drama created and executive produced by Mike Kelley. The pilot was directed by Alan Poul. The show is a period drama about the impact of sexual and social liberation in 1970s American suburban households - such as open marriages and "key parties."
Produced by CBS Paramount Television, the series was officially greenlit and given a thirteen-episode order on May 14, 2007. It is currently scheduled to air as a mid-season replacement in 2008 on CBS. The show will also be broadcast on Global and ITV3 in Canada and the United Kingdom respectively. The show has also been picked up by Network Ten in Australia and Warner Channel for South America.
Swingtown will premiere on Thursday May 29, 2008 at 10/9c.

So it's The Ice Storm: The Series?

Actually staying with New Amsterdam for a moment and avoiding dropping my car keys in the fruit bowl, why is it the true love is always another person. What if their true love turns out to be collecting baseball cards?

Seems more like Angel to me.  Assuming he's a vampire, right?  I didn't see any indication of a gathering and beheadings and such.

No he's just immortal though he does have the true love bollocks, but a different effect if he finds her/him.
