I haven't found any "great" movie deals yet. Personally I'm not gonna force it . Hopefully deals will pop up if I'm patient. What movies did you select on the rebate OTC? I went with The Italian Job, Pitch Black, Swordfish, U2: Rattle and Hum, & Darkman.

Aeon Flux (just so I can watch it with the Rifftrax)
The Thing (wonder if I can get Big Trouble in Little China on HDDVD somewhere?)
Full Metal Jacket (It will have a place of honor right next to my R. Lee Ermey Motivational Action Figure)
The Frighteners (Ermey double feature! Besides, I already have Firewall, and the only reason I do? Rifftrax.)
Troy (simply because I think a movie like that would look really great in HD.)

Gonna check out deep discount next. Thanks for the heads up about the HD-DVD player guys!

I'll pick up Hulk and Batman Begins once I have money again. (Stupid taxes....) I own both on normal DVD, so there's no big rush for me. I'm also keeping an eye out for deals on the Ultimate Matrix and (The biggie) Star Trek: TOS Season 1 (Which has the advantage of being a combo pack, so I'll always be able to watch it, even with a normal DVD player.)

Well I finally decided to do some spending. I ended up getting everything used because  the titles I wanted were a lot cheaper that way.
All prices are the 'final prices' (shipping & tax included in price)

Shrek the Third - used from Amazon Marketplace    $12.71
Transformers - used from Amazon Marketplace $12.93
A Christmas Story - used from Amazon Warehouse $12.20
The Departed - used from Amazon Warehouse $13.18

Also, as previously mentioned I got King Kong in the box and already grabbed Bourne Ultimatum for 10 dollars.

... just grabbed  Mission: Impossible [HD DVD] $9.98 from DeepDiscount

Just picked one up from Fred Meyer. I think I'm gonna go for Babel, The Thing, Full Metal Jacket, The Frighteners, and Troy.

I could probably list all these for $10 a piece on Craigslist and get cash immediately to go towards other HD-DVDs if I wanted.

I know a couple of Pawn X-changes that have about 20+ HD-DVDs for $7 a pop. Hopefully I'll luck out like I did when I picked up the sealed 2 disc Departed for $3 there.

But I'll be sure to check out Deep Discount too. You guys should go around to your local video stores as well, and find out when they're dumping they're hddvd rentals. You are sure to get 'em cheap there.

For the most part, I'm just gonna use it as an upconverter. The Jurassic Park rifftrax looks pretty kick-ass in it.

SASD, the HD disc for The Frighteners is great: it has a FOUR hour documentary on the making of which is (obviously) stunningly comprehensive.

Sweet. I just mailed out the form and everything today, so hopefully it works.

I've got a quick question. My HDTV is only 720p/1080i. What should I set my display settings on my 360 to? Or does it matter?

When I did that, the picture got really choppy, like the video card couldn't handle it or something, which is weird, cause I play my games at 1080i and they're fine. When I set it to 720p, the problem went away. I might have to hook this up to my plasma to see what's going on.

I got one today.  $50 - $15 for King Kong - $20 for Remote = Pretty damn cheap for tech that just died. *Shrug*  Now to find me a Betamax.

I also got Superman 2.

I was at Hastings earlier and they had two HD-DVD players one with a price tag for $49.99 the other one (also new) had a tag in front of it stating it was for $49.99 and had a $30 mail-in rebate. Think I might go back and grab it, $20 for a dvd player, movie and remote ain't a bad deal at all even though I can't get the 5 free movies. Anyone try hooking these players up to their computer directly through usb? Any problems with that?

Waste of cash IMO. HD-DVD is dead. Long live blu-ray! I salute you my new overlords!
