Hie thee to a Blockbuster or your Netflix Queue and get yourself some early MST3K.
I am 98.36% sure it is NOT a reference to Joel Hodgson.

You are overthinking it.

"Cause.....effect."
 "Silk.....ass."

Loved that one.. Another one that made me really laugh was during the rave where the one guy jumps up into major camera view and one of the guys yells out "HI MOM!" You know the actor had to have done that so his buddies would see him in the crowd shot.

...so unless it's the most obscure and simeltaneously the first ever MST3K reference in Rifftrax history...

First ever?

So the ones in Batman and Robin and Star Wars Episode III don't count?   ;)

To be fair, he thought they were talking about the OTHER movie riffing show that appeared during the 1990s and featured a guy and his robots in outer space.

Of course, how silly that I forgot that show.  Good 'ol Bob Gyro and Drow.  I still say Mark was a better host than Joe though.

I always liked Tipsy.  Sure she ran all the ships functions but she always seemed kind of out of it due to her binge drinking.

Looking back, it's still hard to believe she was voiced by producer Tim Fallon.

Was he the one responsible for the terrible sets on the Orbital Station of Eros?

Feel free to go ahead and explain the inexplicable Joel reference then... any day now. I'm waiting. Do you have the e-mail address of the bald kid who famously said, "What have you done with Joel?" or an archive of that classic "What Have You Done With Joel?" website that gave us reason to laugh so hard at this extremely clever reference? ::)
