Val Kilmer, what happened to Will Arnett?

Seems Mr. Arnett has done many a narration for GM commercials, which would make his involvement with a Ford-sponsored TV show a conflict of interest. He had no choice but to drop out.
That's what I heard. Kilmer did all the lines in the last two weeks or so. The reason why the voice was so mechanically enhanced in commercials was because Arnett dropped out.

I'd love to hear Arnett say some lines in the character though. Supposedly they were all recorded.

I only caught a couple of minutes but I wasn't impressed.  I might watch an episode or 2 but I don't think this will be a regular show I check out.

Anyone posted about the ratings yet?  It actually did GOOD.  Whoa. We may see a new Knight Rider? WTF:

"Knight Rider delivered the highest 18-49 rating for any made-for-television movie, multiple-part movie or theatrical film on any network since March 6, 2005 ("Their Eyes Were Watching God" on ABC)".  It also won its time slot.

Here's the ratings breakdowns:

Well, thankfully they don't make that many made for TV movies anymore. So it's not hard to have beaten all of them since 2005. Name even one.

And I mean.... it's had the highest ratings since "Their Eyes Were Watching God"? What the hell is that? I can only imagine that's one of the lowest rated TV movies of all time, and everything since then has managed to get even worse viewership.

This

It did OK but it wasn't the best adaptation of a book ever. Plus Halle Berry, not a terribly good actress when all is said and done.

It just means that since Knight Rider was a backdoor pilot which won its time slot and made "record breaking" ratings, we'll probably see more :)

Like Pak, only caught the last half hour or so. Complete waste of time, in my opinion. I loved the original Knight Rider when I was a kid (even made a KITT "control panel" to attach to the dash of my Big Wheels so I could pretend I was driving it) and I would do it an injustice to watch this show on a regular basis.

But I may be too harsh and should probably watch the entire ep before I pass final judgement.

Personally, I think it has potential.  Am I the only one who thought the commercials were funnier/more Knight Rider-esque than the actual show?  I love how KITT was snarky and egotistical, more like old KITT.

I laughed at the commercials, but I'm a dork.   They show that at least someone has a good sense of humor.  They need that guy writing the episodes.

I don't know. I actually liked the Knightrider movie. At least they're taking up where the old 80's series (Leaving out KR 200 and Team KR rightfully so.) left off instead of creating a totally different continuity. And this pilot actually played out like a typical Knightrider episode too so why is this terrible?

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

Consider the possibility that you just answered your own question.

I know, it's so snarky, but someone had to say it.

I still fail to see why harkening back to my childhood is a bad thing.

Probably 95% of the original Knight Rider episodes had better plots than this tv movie

In this case, I feel it can be equated to going back and exploiting a beloved movie trilogy with a new trilogy that cashes in on the concepts of the originals yet retains none of the original spirit.

It's just my cynical viewpoint, however. I'm glad that there are Knight Rider fans that found it enjoyable.
