Started on the script.
Every ill considered literary reference is like a knife twisting in my chest.

LOOK, WE KNOW WHO DORIAN GREY IS, DAMMIT! YOU DON'T NEED TO SAY "PICTURE" FOR US TO GET IT!

ps- I was going to point out the terrible, "Call me Ishmail" line, but it turns out that it was in the original graphic novel, used in an inferior situation. Alan, you got 1-Upped.

Really? That's awful. Do not think Alan himself is immune to the riffing.

Try putting it in the microwave and then running it under hot water.

movie:
Captain Nemo: This is my first mate.
Ishmael: Call me Ishmael, please.

comic:
Captain Nemo: Well, Mr Mate? Now they're all safely ashore, what do you think of my new colleagues?.
Ishmael: Call me Ishmael, captain. You've known me long enough.  As for your new shipmates, Quatermain's a decent cove, and your Miss Murray's alright for a bit o'fluff.

I don't know by that time when you reading the comic you're so used to every character being some obscure reference, your just relieved when he gives you a freebie and just spells it out for you.

Actually it might be more to do with the distribution company in NZ.

I'm going to see if one of my local libraries has a copy.

The disc is fucked.

In that case, what are your feelings on... "legally aquired personal backups?" ;)

Do you have a PS2? The PS2 built in DVD player has a handy timecode function that I just recently discovered. Very convenient for those that don't have the time, knowhow, or inclination to use the .srt timestamp subtitles we've provided. :)

http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/

This is a nice drag-and-drop type program that will convert avi, mpg, mp4, vob, etc. files to a simple DVD-style for burning. You can also drag and drop in subtitle files (like our .srt file), and it will do the work for you - you can tell it where on screen to show them and how large to make them, too. They have a trial version, but I'm not sure how it functions (partial functionality or limited time trial), because I have the full version already.

If the DVD you are trying to reauthor has some form of copy protection that prevents you from just manually copying the file structure off the CD to your hard drive and then dropping that into VSO, I personally use the Xilisoft DVD Ripper software: http://www.xilisoft.com/dvd-ripper-platinum.html

Again, free trial, but I don't know the exact functionality of the trial because I already have the full version. Also, I'm not saying that those programs are the be-all-end-all, they just happen to be the ones that I use because I got them both dirt cheap during promotional sales the companies were having. Xilisoft is great, and VSO works very quickly if you don't care about a pretty menu and just want the DVD done fast, or don't have time to mess around with programs where you have to put everything together yourself by hand.
