Rifftrax- Quiptrack Comparisons
« on: February 08, 2008, 11:44:18 AM »
If you don't know what I'm talking about,
http://hoboshow.indianabum.com/quipTracks.shtml
Watch it while you have the DVD, people.

For myself, I liked both of them about equal. They had different approches, had different running gags, and had few if any noticable overlaps.

Even with Al, though, I'd give QT the slight advantage. Maybe just because of the more enthousisatic approch to voices, and their tendency to make jokes based on the film's logical and continuity flaws.

Neither, however, did any jokes directly approching the idea of a restroom being right next to the giant, terrifying dinosaur cage.

And do we have any idea if Mike and co watched the Quiptrack before doing this?

Well Obviously Mike would have watched the quiptrack version of the commentary first because he is always looking for ideas. Tha man can't come up with a Joke by himself. He's always calling up Bill or Kevin and saying "What would be a funny thing to say in this situation?"

And Weird Al? Come on, the guy hasn't come up with an original joke in his life. He's always on the phone to me running things by me. I wrote half of his songs myself.

Come on we both know how much Quiptracks has influenced both of their carreers. If it weren't for quiptracks, MST3K would have never gotten off the ground and Weird AL wouldn't have sent his first song in to Dr Demento.

I know that if I had heard of quiptracks before today I would totally have used them as my muse for all my comedic projects.

Thank you, Quiptracks. Thank you,

Actually, I think I have a good reason for the restroom to be there.    If I were laying out a park, I would have facilities for the park employees to use and, in an emergency, for the park guests.   So I totally understand why a small unisex bathroom was there.

They could have just had waterproof seats and a drain in the floorboards.

Yea, this never seemed wrong to me either, especially near the carnivorus dinos, watching a live goat get chomped in half might cause some "accidents".

I just have enough problems with public toilets. "Sawing metal overlapping Lion's Roar" sounds wouldn't help.

Thank you, Junkyard! Without you, QuipTracks would be forced to resort to tooting it's own horn! That just sounded silly.....

Its 3 stalls but one toilet. Maybe one side was the sink and the other a shower? It could be there for the purposes of the workers as well.

Actually it's 3 toilets, but the other two are actually attached to the back wall..... Which in itself is just as stupid as having a 3 stall unisex bathroom in the first place.

I just watched JP again last night and I logged in to mention this.  Guess you beat me to it.

Considering it was right near the T-Rex pen, would you think alot of tourists would be defecating themselves should it pop in to say hello henceforth the need for toilet stalls near the exhibit?

When the walls fall away they seem to lie flat, as if the rest of the building was empty, the entire prop outhouse was obviously setup just to create the "joke" of a dino eating a lawyer sitting on a toilet out in the open.  It wasn't in the book, so any explanations would have to come from Spielberg....
