Comedies seem to be a common thread. What about the Naked Gun movies? All gold, in my opinion. :^)
I find that comedies are generally a very subjective genre. For instance, the type of humor displayed in the Naked Gun movies (or Zucker-style, if you will) does not sit well with many people, though I can't imagine why. I personally love that type of humor, and it leaves me in stitches! However, movies like
The Royal Tenenbaums crack me up, but are despised by many. These are very different styles of comedy, but have their own followers.
Funny story about Tenenbaums, I was at a Blockbuster Video(I know,
hisssss!!) a long time ago and I overheard a lady talking to another about Tenenbaums. She said something to the effect of "I put that movie in and was like 'What the hell is this?' and I said get this crap out of my player!" (p.s. she said this in a very twangy Texas accent), and I thought to myself, you know, lady, you remind me of the waitress in
Tommy Boy who went to the TV and asked her patrons "Do y'all want this or American Gladiators?" Same type of lady. A movie like Tenenbaums is completely lost to her kind(no offense to those with a twangy Texas accent!).
