Anyone who doesn't like Monty Python gets banned immediately. I think we can agree on that.

There is a special BanHammer for those who don't know who Tim the Enchanter is.

One of the things I found impressive about Citizen Kane was the old age make-up, the film covers what, 60-70 years? I thought they did a great job.

Xanadu, stately home of Charles Whitman....

I don't like it. Not that it wasn't made well, but I just didn't like it. The last thing we need is a bunch of punks getting together to celebrate the advancement of the human species by beating the shit out of eachother. Devolution indeed.

What do you mean... and African or European Swallow?

Then you missed the point of the movie.  Though I'll give this, it's very very very very very easy to miss the point of that movie.

I nominate: Evil Dead 2

any objections?

I know I'll get flamed for this, but I've never "got" the the appeal of the Evil Dead films.  I find them just really bad and boring.  And people idolize Bruce Campbell, for really no reason at all, other than he was in those movies.  I HATED Bubba Ho-Tep.

Exactly.

It's not that I missed the point, it's that I didn't care for the point they were trying to make. The beating up of other people was just a side note  ;)

Me too. Probably my worst movie-going experience ever, and I saw XXX in the theater. Yeah, it's that bad.

Ironically, I also saw XXX in the theatre.  I didn't really care much about the plot, only that Vin Diesel was hot  :-*, so I actually sort of enjoyed it.

It's not a superbly deep story or anything, but I think the book does a better job of explaining it than the movie

I should probably point out that I hadn't initially intended to see it, it just ended up being the consensus between a bunch of people I was going to the movies with (all guys lol)

What about some animated features?

The "Toy Story" movies are something I think we could all agree on. If you hate those you clearly have no joy in your soul.

From out of left field: Does anybody not like Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure? Seriously.

Obviously, it's no masterpiece, but it is one of my favorites.

How about Casablanca?  I kinda liked it better than Citizen Kane.

I liked The Maltese Falcon and The Treasure of the Sierra Madre far more than Casablanca, which didn't really have much of an effect on me. I mean, I guess it's pretty good, but there are many films that I like more than it, including Citizen Kane.

I've only seen the first, which I loved as a kid. I haven't seen it since, so I can't really comment on it.

My favorite animated movie of all time is Heavy Traffic -- now THAT is a movie! Damn good. 8)
