Check out the link. We may no longer have to deal with Rhino's repeated boo-boo's on the DVD releases...

I'm surprised Jim Mallon would go to the company that released the Film Crew DVDs, seeing as it's supposed he stopped the release of them while they were at Rhino.

It would be nice if they did box sets, and hopefully for clarity's sake, they kept with the Rhion numbering in terms of the volumes.

I'd like to see complete season sets personally.

I assume these DVDs are popular but no one really knows for sure. Makes you wonder how Comedy Central & Sci Fi did it back in the day.

The series lasted 11 seasons and includes 198 episodes, all of which are ultimately bound for both DVD and digital distribution through Shout! Factory.

Okay, although that doesn't make mention of exactly HOW they'll arrive on DVD...woo hoo!!!

Maybe the popularity of the torrents of taped episodes will speed up the release of the official versions of episodes.

I am curious about the "digital download rights" and what that means for us.

Or, it could be a case of "meet the new boss, same as the old boss".

Or, it could mean more Film Crew DVDs since they are all under one roof.

They say they have rights to all of the episodes, but they will still have the same movie licensing issues that Rhino had.

Season sets are not likely to happen for that very reason.

I am interested to see what company picks up Cinematic Titanic.  That thing is not gonna stay an independently released entity for very long.  Any interest from Legend Films in bringing them under the umbrella?  Or maybe they will be able to get a TV deal with someone.  It seems like something that would fit in well on Adult Swim.

Yeah I'd say this is a great move for Shout Factory...  looking at their Top 5 sellers right now:

 1) Hollywood After Dark
The Film Crew

2) Giant Of Marathon
The Film Crew

3) Wild Women Of Wongo
The Film Crew

4) Killers From Space
The Film Crew

5) Good To See You Again, Alice Cooper

I seriously doubt this.  The reason we have the DVD sets and not "seasons" is because most of the rights they had on the movies have expired.  They would have to re-secure the rights to all those movies, and while each film would probably have it's own unique rights issues (price, length of time to have the rights, etc.) I seriously doubt they can/will get rights to all 198 movies.

One good thing that may come out of this move is that Shout Factory! now has a chance to really shine in regards to special features in these sets.  Something that I always thought was lacking on the Rhino sets.
