19. Billy Jack - (1971)- 91 points
(5 of 40 lists. Highest ranking - #1 Compound)

Directed by Tom Laughlin
Starring Tom Laughlin, Delores Taylor andClark Howat

Synopsis:
"Billy Jack is a half-Indian/half-white ex-Green Beret who is being drawn more and more toward his Indian side. He hates violence, but can't get away from it in the white man's world. Pitting the good guys, the students of the peace-loving free-arts school in the desert vs. the conservative bad guys in the near-by town, the movie plays definitive late-60s themes/messages: anti-establishment, make love not war, the senseless slaughter of God's creatures, the rape of society (figuratively and literally), two-sided justice, racial segregation and prejudices, and basic socialist ideals."

Possible Sources of Comedy:
-So, to end violence, first we must kill everyone?
-Who's bright idea was it to let the pregnent woman ride a horse?
-Interactive theater. *shudder*

Never seen it, had never heard of it... Should I be afaraid?

I just realized yesterday, when it came on TBS, that I left Van Helsing off my list. I hope some of you covered my back on that one. :^)

That's actually one of my favorite more-recent cheesy movies. It gave my wife nightmares though...

One wonders how much they'll* be looking at a list like this; do we have any kind of statistical analysis of how much the lads looked at our last go-round in the "tournament" style?

*They = Mike, Bill, Kevin et al.

Well my memory's a little shakey, but of the top five, I think they got number 3 in a couple weeks later (Possibly by coincidence) and #1 is being done over a year later.

So we really have no idea how seriously they took the last poll. :^)

And #1 only because Riff Raff Theater shortlisted it along with some other top forum requests and sort of forced their hand a little bit. :)

When we did the elimination polls, after they were all done Torgos PM'ed me asking for the details of the results of the poll, because Mike wanted to see them.  Supposedly.

That's really interesting! Can you share anymore of the discussion that resulted in them agreeing on B&R? Inquiring minds want to know...

Yes. It's pure late 60s/ early 70s goofiness in movie form.

It was also *very* popular in the early 70s. It was almost like Titanic in that lots of people saw it, but few people will admit to it these days.

If I had gotten my list finished in time for submission, Masters would have been my #1 as well.
Alas, if I had gotten my list finished in time for submission, MOTU would have been my #2.

This thought just came to mind.  Has "Return To Oz" been mentioned... ever?

I had Billy Jack on my list, but not that high.  Even though it is probably my number one request, I didn't have it high on my list (#16) because i didn't think that many other people would vote for it.  I probably would have it at number 1 or 2 if I had known.

Chris (or maybe even Mike) are probably going to beat me for saying as much as I did. You wouldn't like him when he's angry.

oh shit here he comes...

I have to admit... I actually liked Jim Carrey as the Riddler. But, Two-Face seemed just tacked-on to the movie. It would have been a much better film with only one villain .
