Theme Tunes we enjoy
« on: January 06, 2008, 06:21:55 PM »
Ok so I had a look using search and it didn't come up so I thought I'd start a thread for theme songs/tunes we like.

They're throwaway bits of music but people work hard on them (sometimes) so I thought it'd be nice to mention a few of them.

Here are a few I have always liked:

Cheers

Only Fools and Horses
Opening
[yt=425,350]BiYYVeBdqaM[/yt]
Closing
[yt=425,350]Lac8xyi-6j0[/yt]

John Sullivan, great writer, not a bad lyricist either.

Monkey Magic

I love the Only Fools and Horses one.

Red Dwarf's theme tunes, the slow and fast ones.

Firefly. I tried posting the theme off of you tube and it didn't work, which, I don't get, 'cause I've done it before, and it worked...

...

Ya' know, i've mentioned this before... but comedies with melancholy theme songs used to really freak me out as a kid. Usually because they came on Nick At Nite very late, while i was alone in the dark watching TV. But a few of them have grown on me over the years. For example, Cheers, Taxi and Wings. Now i kind of enjoy them.

I enjoy the "Joel Year's" version of the MST3K theme and most of the Kid's In the Hall music, especially their theme. Timeless classics to be enjoyed for ages to come.

Take a close look at the id of the clip, sometimes it's easy to miss a _ or a -.

My current favorite show, The Office

The actual intro side by side with the fan-made claymation intro.

Lol, for a moment I thought Bettertomorrow's clip was real. I've never watched Trek beyond a handful of TNG episodes ;D

blueguy posted the wrong Richard Dean Anderson theme.
[yt=425,350]3w-oDZSLUrY[/yt]

I'll add ATHF to the list.

That is the theme song to Enterprise, but they edit that song.

While it's more or less a full song by a real band, I really love the opening credits song on The Sopranos.

(this video contains part of the beginning of the show too, the credits are only the first minute & a half):

Negative!  I posted the correct one.  I always post correctly.

Big favorites:

The end theme of Thundercats (all jazzy and stuff)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=SxvJeE3dypk

The Rockford Files theme:

And one of the best of all:

Intro to "The Mysterious Cities of Gold"

Every Sunday morning, I'd be completely captivated by this cartoon, and would wonder if the characters would ever find the Cities of Gold. Such memories...
