(Off Topic) - Go See Borat. Now!
« on: November 03, 2006, 11:40:12 AM »
 ;D

Just got back from a matinee showing.  One of the funniest movies I have ever seen.  Sacha Baron Cohen is one of the most fearless comic talents alive today.

Just an astonishing and fantastic film.

If you think you've seen all you can see from the Borat character, you haven't seen anything yet.

Although I'm sure that everyone here is planning to see this soon!   ;D

I really want to see this movie, but the studio releasing it cut it down to only 800 screens.  It isn't playing anywhere even close to me unfortunately.  Hopefully, it will do well this weekend because it has been reported that they will expand it to something like 2200 screens if it does.  This is really frustrating.

Yeah, you might have to find yourself a college campus... That seems to be where limited release movies are shown. Good thing I can get to one in half an hour.

I forgot about the limited release.  I'm sure this movie is going to make a lot of money this weekend (the 11:30am show I went to was 3/4 full) and it will be expanded to all corners of the country.

Try to see it if you can.  I really can't remember the last time I laughed as hard at a movie.

I've never seen Da Ali G show before, so the first time I ever saw Borat was in the preview they showed before Snake on a Plane.  Since that time, I've been really excited to see this movie.  Definitely going sometime soon.

He came to where I live (Tucson, AZ) and did an open mic at some redneck bar and got them singing along to his "Throw the Jew Down the Well" song. Funny stuff, but made me hate the hicks even more in this town.

I went to the premiere at the Chinese last week.  It was awesome and hysterical.  Funniest and most poignant movie to come along in a really long time, probably since the South Park movie.  Everyone should see it ASAP.
Think about it, won't you?

I'm going tomorrow to see it. It looks fricken great. I have seen a couple clips, like the whole massage parlor thing :o

I think it's funny how the rednecks in this video sing along so jauntily with Borat, yet are so ignorant when it came to supporting Bush, who supports Israel, whose national religion is the Jewish religion. I wonder if they made that direct correlation if it would affect votes. It would be sad to think that it would.

Too much hate, not enough love.

I just got back from the movie and it was great. Definately not a movie I would take kids to though.

I just got back from the movie and it was great. Definately not a movie I would take kids to though.

Well, it is Rated R for a reason.  In fact, according to the evil MPAA, those reasons are:  for pervasive strong crude and sexual content including graphic nudity, and language

So no, it would not be good for anyone under a certain age.  Parents, you might want to check out the movie first before taking little Jenny and Johnny.

What really ticks me off is when I see parents take small children to rated R films, then storm out after awhile beacuse the film is too adult oriented for their rugrats.  Again, it is rated R for a reason!  "I thought Borat's wacky hi-jinks on TV were more than suitable for my 10 year old.  I had no idea there would be so much man-on-man action!!!" (swipe to see spoiler for movie)

(does anyone know what the other HTML color used for background on here is?  I was lucky to have my post be with white background)

Really no desire to go see it.  I spend enough of my daily life feeling uncomfortable and don't need to pay $8 to watch a big-screen version of Candid Camera-- that type of raw, malicious humor just doesn't appeal to me, plus Jon Stewart has already sent that schitck sailing over the sharktank.  I can get 2.5 Rifftrax for that, with the added bonus of listening to Mike reminice about his glory days as a waiter at TGIFriday's :)

Well, it opened big enough on Friday that it should expand to the rest of the country over the next few weeks.  so everyone that wants to see it right away should have a shot, without having to wait for the DVD.

And yes, the movie is pretty vulgar, so if that sort of thing isn't your cup of tea you might want to steer clear.

;D I just saw it tonight.  It was absolutely brilliant.  But the Kazakhstan Film Board says that it shouldn't be seen by children under the age of 3.
Correction: the coat hanger should be upside down.
