Tee Hee, never a truer banner was created.

Actually there was a great illustration in Private Eye of a review of one of the previous History of Middle Earth books.

It had a large banner reading "Tolkien: The Excitement Continues" beneath were two pics one labled "With Pipe" and the other "With Party Hat" and save for those two elements the pics were identical profile portraits of a slightly slumped J.R.R.

If I were drinking something, it would have come straight out of my nose right then.  Nicely done!

I liked Children of Hurin as a fable about Pride, and the best parts of ourselves becoming the worst.  As adventure, it wasn't as good as LotR.

What is best in life? To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of the women.

Great banner!  It reminded me of the following penny-arcade strip (which I've hidden behind spoiler tags due to foul language)

See I didn't mind so much the first prequel trilogy of Dune, but man could they please knock it on the head now.

If I want scribbled notes turned into unsavory follow ups to a dead authors writing I'll go read a V. C. Andrews novel

Some of "Professor Tolkien's Writings" were on display at the Karpeles Manuscript Museum in my city (Why there's a branch in Newburgh, of all places, I'll never know...). I think that was among the collection, along with some notes to his editors on proper spelling. Pretty cool just to see his handwriting, though.

Just finished reading this one after putting it off for quite a few months (also cuz I didn't get the book until Christmas =P)

Anyway - awesome read! Great as a thematic book - not so much for adventure.

I realized after reading it that...
