Got this for my birthday and I would definitely recommend it. Granted, those unfamiliar with the Aquabats style might be averse to this one, but it's sort of the musical equivalent of Adventure Time or Homestar Runner. Plus, they have a TV show now, so it's nice that they're a success now.
These days they have a much more consistent sound than in their earlier days. That's not a bad or a good thing but I do like when they try making something a bit different, like "Cold Raw Gold", "Chemical Bomb", or "Hello Goodnight." Still, it reminds me a lot of Devo's last album in that it's all very high energy to the point where the music sounds like it has ADD. In a good way. It has all the energy of a kid hopped up on sugar on a cartoon filled Saturday morning. But it retains a wit to it that speaks to their new young audience without alienating their older audience. Glad the band is more popular than ever. Now I have to explain why I'm so into a "Kid's Band". But you know, listening again, I realize the current sound can be describe as mixing the kind of hooks that you hear in punk music and cartoon theme songs.
Oh and Biz Markie and Strong Bad appear on the album if that sweetens the pot.
BTW, not on the album, but this might be the best cover ever that perfectly sums up my feelings of being in my twenties.
