RVR II GOES BACK TO MEXICO AGAIN!!
« on: December 09, 2007, 05:16:51 AM »
Post # 4000 is a good mark to announce to the forum that I'll be leaving you all this Thursday Dec. 13 for  nearly a month long vacation to Mexico, and will return the evening of Jan 8, 08. This will be the 7th year in a row I've done this for the holidays, and I have a Blast overall.. Upper 80's to low 90's for temps, Mucho Cerveza & Tequila.. OH YEAH! Gotta be careful of the authentic Mexican foods (Got Prilosec? CHECK!)

I am taking a spare desktop computer with me down there to leave in our vacation home, with the Hopes I can get internet access for it while down there (at least by phone), so maybe I'll be back in touch. ;D
We'll be staying for the most part in my wife's small town called Iguala, in the Mexican state of Guerrero, Mexico. If you do a Google search, or Google Earth search, it's located almost exactly at the halfway mark between Mexico City and Acapulco.
I actually 'drove' the 2800 mile distance back during Memorial day weekend back in 2006; we bought a 95 Oldsmobile Silhouette mini van to drive to Mexico (well, the transmission snapped outside of San Antonio so that delayed us 5 days)! We left the mini van down there specifically for us to drive around while down there.
We go to Acapulco every trip here. It's Awsome during this time of year
We'll visit other surrounding towns including the 'Silver City' of Taxco; world renowned for it's Silver!

I'll take picks and post them when I can, but just wanted to 'formally' bid you all, Adieu! ;D
Have a GR8 Holiday & New Year Everybody!!

Holy Cow, a MONTH of vacation!

I can only imagine the amount of tequila, tacos and other items you will be consuming!    Sounds like a recipe for fun.

While down there, be sure to wander the earth, get involved in people's lives and have adventures (ala Bill Bixby, but without the turning green part).

Take lots of photos and have fun.   Dont worry about the rest of us stuck at work.    REALLY, dont worry a bit.

This is our vacaton Before the Tax Season begins, so we 'live it up' before it's Full Throttle into income taxes

I'll try to avoid the Jalapenos, & chilli peppers.. even their Salsa is potent :gouge:,

I like how your entire posting history has apparently led up to the 4000-mark post where you announce that you won't be on the boards for about a month.  I just think that's funny for some reason.

But seriously, have fun, man.  As somebody who's only been out of the country as far as Toronto, Canada (and I live in Upstate New York, so it's not that big a stretch), I wish you all the best and that you have fun, fun, fun, until Daddy takes the T-Bird away.  And then after the T-Bird is gone, hail a cab and have MORE fun!

Sheer Coinsidence on the 4000 mark.. I woke up this morning just 2 posts shy and felt like I just needed to let my forum friends know I'll 'quieter' than normal in case anybody missed me ;D

Originally from Buffalo, I went across the 'Peace bridge' there many times as a kid, and to Nova Scotia a couple of times.. Never seemed like a different country to me. The parts of Mexico I go to, it's Good to have someone, or family to watch over me so I don't get into trouble :P

Thanks Dim!

Well, about 24 hours to go and I'll be on my way!
Most of our bags are packed, and now I need to get all my bills payed up so when I return, the bill collectors aren't sending me letters or knocking on my door (last year I forgot to pay my power bill, and the very next morning upon our return, the city showed up ready to cut my power :scared: )!

Just found out yesterday that we're unfortunately gonna have to take the bus from Mexico City to the neighboring town of Cuernavaca due to an increase in auto thefts of American vehicles recently in Mexico City (go figure  ::) ). Normaly we'd be picked up by my wife's family, but the theft risk along with the Gawd Awful traffic is too much for them to risk the trip. Her family will then pick us up from there to take us to their home town.
Thursday is gonna be a looong day.. :-[
