It's kind of a neat way to take a journey through the history of the last 30 years or so of music. :^)

So the other day, Weird Al posted a picture of the master of his new album on Facebook. Today, he posted this:

My first guess is Michael Jackson who liked dressing up as a general, but I bet there is some other more relevant pop icon I just don't know about.

Or it's just from one of the originals.

It's his last under his current contract with Sony. The image could just be marketing and not specifically for a song (like the RWS cover).

I'm pretty sure it's just an image to go with the title Mandatory Fun.

Anyway, Patton Oswalt said that he takes on the style of one of his favourite bands of the 90's (Beastie Boys?).  Curious about that.  Looking forward to Al appearing on Comedy Bang Bang to promote it.  Always a treat when he's on.

I know I am in the minority here and I know that for commercial reasons this is not possible at all, but I would like to see him do more parodies of older songs. When I look at something like Running with scissors or Alpocalypse and compare them with Even worse or Off the deep end, it's just not the same.

Possible, but he has already parodied The Beastie Boys.

Yeah, not really necessary. The man does his own damn comedy.
