"Weird Al" fans
« on: November 27, 2007, 07:46:53 PM »
Are many people on the RiffTrax board here fans of "Weird Al"?  I think the humor is similar but more in a "parallel" kinda way...if that makes any sense at all.  Anyway, I'm a fan of both "Weird Al" and RiffTrax, and I just finished compiling a music video for his Eminem parody of "Lose Yourself" (where he raps about TV shows [there was no official one ever made]).  I thought people with these same interests here would like this (don't worry... I actually put real effort into it):

Thanks!

It think it's some sort of unwritten Rifftrax(TM) law that every member of the Rifftrax Round Table(C) must own at least two albums by "Weird Al" Yankovic(R).

I'm a HUGE Weird Al fan ever since I first saw the video to "I Love Rocky Road" on Nickelodeon back in the day. :^)

Ever since my brother gave me his "Even Worse" cassette I've been hooked on Weird Al and I've picked up every album he's put out since.

I've been a fan of Weird Al ever since he sent in a home made tape of "My Balogna" to Dr. Demento  :D

You were there right from the real start then.  That's what launched Weird Al's career.  I heard an interview with one of The Knack (Doug Fieger I think, but I'm not sure) who said that he heard Weird Al's version and immediately called his record label, convincing them to sign Al.

When you make fun of someone's song, and that someone tries to get you a contract because of it, you know you did something right.

I love Weird Al! loved him since i think 6th grade and i have all of his albums.  I even chose him to do a report on in 7th grade and everyone in my class thought i was really strange to like this guy.  It's always been hard to find people that like Al as much as i do, its nice to know there are fans out here that love Al and Rifftrax! woo!

I have been a fan of his since I saw him proform Yoda on his TV show.

Since then I have been working on getting all his albums.

Is it wrong that I know all the words to "I love Rocky Road" but not "I love Rock and Roll"?

I love Al. 2 Things a lot of people might not know about him (but as fans, I'll bet you all do):

1 Apparently, he's one of the world's top accordion players, one hell of a virtuoso.

2 He went to Harvard.

Fun facts for anyone who didn't know.

I was a late blooming Weird Al fan. Hadn't heard much of him until Off The Deep End came out. When I heard "Triggerhappy", my eyes filled with tears of joy and I've been a fan ever since. My only weird hangup is that I'm unable to listen to any of his albums start to finish. It has to be in small doses for me or the songs stop being funny. I don't know why.

As a sidenote, the last concert Pak and I went to was Weird Al. The man is one of the best performers I've ever seen.

So glad to see many adoring fans here!  I was fan of Al's when "Polka Party" came out.  My dad played that cassette in the car all the time (his favorite Weird Al song is "Addicted To Spuds").

2 more facts you may not have known:

1.)  Al graduated high school as Valedictorian at age 16.

2.) Dave Grohl considers Al's concerts as the loudest of any concerts he's ever been to.
