Okay, because anais.jude forced me into it at gunpoint, I'll join. (Although I later found out the "gun" was just her finger.) Anyway, we both agree that Dune should be the first book.

I've read Dune before, too, though I'm really sucky at reading when I'm at home. I usually do it on the train, or when I'm at work.

Exactly what I was thinking. Maybe we should all throw out suggestions. I was kind of hoping for something other than sci-fi, but that's not to say sci-fi wouldn't be a good book choice sometimes.
