I like Stokers other works like The Jewel of Seven Stars or The Lair of the White Worm

After a little checking, both of which  are available from Project Gutenberg.

i would like to read liar of the white worm. what's his face....the guy who directed tommy....and lady chatterley's lover....Ken Russell ( i had to look that up) directed a version of the film adaptation.

i can't read things on the internet though, it hurts my eyes too much

Alright everybody who wants to should read "Dune" starting.............................NOW!

Then January 5th or so we will begin discussions.  I will generate some topics to discuss with the help of my #1 (Dwight) and with help from anybody else interested.  Anybody who has read the book will be allowed to post about the book, but anybody who hasn't please don't interject *cough* Sideswipe *cough*.

If you can stand a bit of Christian Literature, I recommend The Man Who Was Thursday by G.k. Chesterton.  It is genuinely funny and is a good spoof of the detective / spy fiction.  There is a lot you can discuss about it as well.

Of course, I'm just a Chesterton fanboy after all.

The Man who was Thursday is excellent. Have you read The Napoleon of Notting Hill as well?

Oh and on the subject of Catholic lit, I was going to suggest Hadrian VII except I think the copy I have is the last edition that was in print and it's currently hard to find. I'll have to check Gutenberg.

Sod it, I'll flip through one of my copies of Dune and join in. Do you want to stop at the novel proper of include the appendices

Haven't gone to it yet.  I've read some of The Ball and the Cross, all of The Everlasting Man, all of Orthodoxy, of course The Man Who Was Thursday and a wee bit of Manalive.  Except for Ignatius Press works, I use this site to read some of his works. http://www.pagebypagebooks.com/Gilbert_K_Chesterton/

Well, hello, I will still be in Sandals, Jamaica finishing up reading Dune, so Acting Regional Manager anais.jude will get the ball rolling with the Dune discussion.

So get ready to discuss Dune!

Yes. Either really though I'd lean toward the first (because I already own it and am a terrible penny pincher)

Ham on Rye is good though too.

Also, Post Office, his first book.

Factotum is great.  I read it last year while fishing.
