Updated the first post to include info regarding the Flash player ActiveX control for Internet Explorer.

:violin:

No seriously... I'll try to have some feedback later today.  Patience!

Not quite sure what to make of this.  I started the thread and have been updating the info in the first post so people won't have to read the entire thing.

Is there a problem?

Nope - Some people find that the Player will not recognize their DVD.  We might have a solution to some of these issues.

I've been researching that problem too but unfortunately I haven't come up with anything concrete yet.

Thanks for the thread and while this 1st post of mine might be in the "holy crap it's broken I want to cry" category, awesome, awesome stuff.  My Wife gave me a whole horde of Rifftrax for Christmas and I am most definitely a happy clam.  Now, I haven no problem doing things the usual way but I tried the Rifftrax Player and....

Everything seems to work fine except the synch of the rifftrax audio is about 5-8 seconds behind where it should be.  Looking on the forum I'm thinking it's got something to do with me being in Berlin downloading these things...and have to use Region Whatever DVD's when I can.  I'm pretty sure I've read on the forum that if you're using PAL or what not the Rifftrax player might not be for you but since my only problem is this weird 5 or so second delay, I just wanted to mention it in case there was some easy stupid solution I didn't know.

Either way, not the end of the world.

Definitely sounds like a Region issue... are you using NTSC or PAL DVDs?

I got a new computer for x-mas, I've gone and installed all the drivers, codec's, etc and when I start the player it just crashes. I'm not talking about having the DVD in the drive and loading the .riff. I mean, when I click on the desktop icon.

comp info:
XP Home
Dual Core Processor
2 Gigs of Ram
Asus x1950 256Mb Ram

Ah, well having it crash is another issue. As long as you're allowing the player access to the Internets, we'll be receiving those crash logs and hopefully a patch will get issued for your version of the player.

OK, finally. I fixed it myself.

Amend the How To Guide to add:

Install Flash Player on IE. Not Firefox.

It's already in there.

"Verify that you have the Flash player ActiveX control for Internet Explorer installed (even if you use Firefox)."

Which codec should I download from codecguide.com should I download? There's all sorts of different versions.

There is no longer any need to download AC3.  If you are having trouble... download the free version of AVS DVD Player and see if that helps.

I've had this problem before (I think) but I believe the answer got erased at some point.  Anyway I updated to Windows Vista a few weeks ago and I'm finally getting back to watching rifftrax again.  Problem is the player is giving me the error:

The Error is caused by not having the standard capability of rendering DVD Filters - We suggest you check to make sure you have a DVD video Decoder and Audio Decoder installed on your machine!

AMD 6400+
Vista (32 bit)
4 Gigs of RAM
GeForce 7950 GT
Liteon DVDRW LH-20A1L

I just got Saw to watch tonight and I don't have any blank DVDs to just burn the damn thing and get it over with so I'm in a bind.  Any help would be appreciated.

*edit*

Forgot to add that I had VLC player installed and only that.  Didn't install the divx package or anything like that.  When it didn't work I installed the Divx codec package, the un/reinstalled the player and that still didn't work.  I'm also not buying that its getting confused with the codeccs but I've been wrong before.
