I was thinking along the lines of :

"Golden Delicious is dead people!"

Now I don't think I can eat apples anymore, especially Granny Smith's which up until right now were my favorite.

Ooh me too especially since I can't get my actual favorite in the states: Cox's Orange Pippins.

Of course, you say that name out loud...

Here is a list of popular bands with the name spelled wrong

1. KoRn
2. Led Zeppelin
3. The Beatles
4. Linkin Park
5. Lynyrd Skynyrd
6. Weezer
7. The Jimi Hendrix Experience
8. Metallica
9. Megadeth
10. Limp Bizkit (I don't like him much)

That's 10! Metallica counts because they made up that word. Wait! I almost forgot

11. P!nk

Don't forget Def Leppard and RATT

This may seem like a rant, and hell, it very well could be.  Just giving fair warning here.

Jimi Hendrix Experience:  They changed the spelling of his name and it's not a drastic one so I don't see the problem here.

Metallica:  If the word is made up, how can it be misspelled?  Yeah, that's what I thought.

OK so as a musician I take offense to the initial post here that it implies musicians can't spell.  Maybe I'm taking it the wrong way but I take my craft very seriously.  Look, some times a band is forced to change the spelling of their band for legal reasons if they want to keep the same "name".  Now I'm not saying that I'm a fan of how some of these bands spell their names, but you gotta look at it from their perspective.  Other times it's just a way to get more attention, which is fine in it's own right.  My band, we didn't change the spelling because as far as we know we're the only band out there with it.  We're currently going through the process of having it Trademarked to avoid bullshit later.  We didn't feel the need to change the spelling at all since we  just let the music speak for itself as well as our live performances.  I can't speak for the entire musician community but that's just my opinion.

Bottom line, if you don't like a band/group simply based on the way they spell their name, then you're pretty ignorant for not giving it a fair chance.

Yeah I know it's just a forum and what-have-you but the initial post in this thread kind of stuck in my craw.

If people hadn't been doing it since Leadbelly (guy couldn't even spell his own name, it's L-E-D-B-E-T-T-E-R!), I'd say it was just a ploy to get available domain names. Like um, that one site. What's it called? Where the dude and the two androids talk about books or something?

See I want to be buried beneath an apple tree no grave marker needed.

Because one day people will forget that there's somebody down there and they'll eat the apples and from beyond I'll have pulled off a masterful prank. >:D

Maybe it's just me, but the phrase "pulled off a masterful prank" REALLY makes me think of something else.

You'll want to avoid the lemon meringue pies at my wake, just saying ;)

The great thing is when I'm at work and a customer comes to me asking for help finding a rap CD from an artist who can't spell his own name right.  I can't spell it the way the artist does, and even the devoted fan can't spell it!  Then it saves me the trouble of having to sift through the CD racks, unlikely to ever find it either because a) it's waaay out of place because--no matter how often we alphabetize our inventory--customers are always mixing up the rap CDs, or b) the CD has already been stolen (category-rap CDs are at the top of our list of loss through theft).
