Wait, it was double elimination?    I dont think the movie made that very clear at all.    All Hawks wanted to do was win an arm wrestling tourniment so the state would give Hawk custody of his kid and then drop criminal charges against Hawks.    Are you sure that it was double elimination?   Well, except for the final match where Hawk won and then Hawks did not have to wrestle again that is.....

I'm guessing the reason why they ignore the stipulations of double elimination in the final round is because having Stallone win twice would be slightly more anti-climactic than the one, big final showdown.

It was double elimination?  Where did you get that from?  The movie never mentions anything about double elimination rules.

You see, it was double elimination, but when Stallone was beaten, at that time he was just Hawk. Had he been Hawks at the time, both Hawks would be eliminated simultaneously and thus he would have lost.

In reality a lot of tournaments don't make the losers bracket beat the winners bracket twice in order to win.   Not talking about arm wrestling, but some pool tournaments I've been in.

Did anyone else actually wrestle again after they lost?  Or was it just Hawk that got the double elimination treatment (don't have my dvd available to check)  I think that actually is where they got rid of the S in Hawks.  It was double elimination, one got eliminated leaving the single Hawk.
