Is this just the writers of the Daily Show or is it some general strike?  I don't know what specifically the writers of the Daily Show would be striking about since their job seems pretty easy not coming up with much original material in the past 5 years

This is a huge writers strike that's affecting all of Hollywood.

It's the whole Writer's Guild, but your reality shows are safe, thank God.

Meh, haven't watched a reality show since the original Joe Schmo Show.

I was being sarcastic.  I would rather hump a pumpkin than watch that crap.
On timeout

Hmmm.....The Daily Show has to shut down because it consists of creative writing based on the day's news.

So, doesn't that mean that Fox (False) News should shut down all together?

No this is TV and Film script writing, not a generic writing strike.

I thought it was a generic writing strike and that everyone posting here was crossing the picket line. ;)  Rifftrax is associated with Legend films.  Exactly what the relationship is with Mike I do not know.  However,  Rifftrax is a show that gets produced for a film company.   Mike I'm sure given his TV writing credits is a member of the TV writers guild.   I don't think it is that far-fetched a question to ask.  This could also hurt Cinematic Titanic, because they are apparently writing DVD commentaries for a film company.    My guess is it is not slowing down Rifftrax,  simply because there has been no statement made about it.   Therefore, internet shows do not apply.

Again, if writers are able to produce material for their own projects, which I believe is the case, then CT shouldn't be negatively affected.  I think their large strong cast of riffers can handle the script demands.

While The Daily Show is on writer's strike i suggest you to look for foreign and YouTube Alternatives:

-The Chaser's War on Everything (Australia, ABC)

-Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe (UK, BBC)

-Time Trumpet (UK, BBC)

-WHATTHEBUCK (USA, YouTube)

-Nathan Barley Season 2 (UK, Channel 4)

Check these out or you can google for other satire alternatives.

Chris Morris announces at Bournemouth University that there'd be a Season 2 of NB in early '08.
