QI (Whose Line meets Mythbusters?)
« on: November 01, 2007, 05:50:55 PM »
I became addicted to this show earlier this week, almost finished the second season, it's all on YouTube. It's hilarious!

Stephen Fry is the Quiz Master, Alan Davies is the regular panelist. The questions are often insanely hard, but the points are awarded on interest. Oh and big negative points for the common but incorrect answer.

Here is the first episode to kick star your addictions.  Hugh Laurie, Danny Baker & John Sessions.

There is actually a seperate pilot however it's slightly different but does have Eddie Izzard.

Yeah, the series is great.  I particularly like when they gang up on Stephen Fry for his upper class education - he takes it in such fun.

It reminds me of another great "panel show" - Have I Got News For You.  Which is basically the same premise, but is based around the news of the previous week.

Is Have I got News For You still good since Angus had his er troubles? I did watch the one with Boris Jonson subbing as host and that was still pretty entertaining.

Oh God yes.  Angus Deayton really was just a voice.  Paul Merton's rants about him were true and the new cycling of presenters really offers something fresh every week.  Boris Johnson is entertaining, but I wouldn't want him as my Mayor (he's running for London mayor, if you didn't know).

I remember watching a show like this while in England years ago and I can't remember who the guy was but sorta reminds me of Tom Waits or Watermelon Slim and he just kept blurting out random stuff not related to the questions like "The ferris wheel was originally a form of transportation" and something about tomatoes being used for currency I think

The Ferris wheel bit is in another episode of this. Rich Hall (the token American) says it I think.

Oh yeah, for a while my sig line featured Boris and Ken facing off. Which banner is apparently on my computer at work. I'll post it later.

I'd like to have a few more American comedians turn up; Dennis Miller for example, let's see how clever he really is.

When did these come out, or are they still playing? Also, is it a british TV show?
