I guess nobody'd be forcing me to listen to them if I bought the set, but I find it a huge kick in the nuts to Jessica Stevenson and Mark Heap and Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, who are the actual STARS and WRITERS of the show to have some ass-hat like Patton Oswalt commenting on their work.  I'm inclined to wait and see if another edition will actually be forthcoming rather than shell out for these fuckers.

Internet anger at it's finest.

Yeah, I know. It's just that I really liked this show a lot, and liked the people involved in it, and I think it's a damn shame that the only "authorized" version of it I'll get to see/own doesn't really include their input.

The region 2 box sets have commentaries from everybody on every episode.  On their "final" release of the box sets, they also put a little retrospective documentary which talked about why the third series was aborted and what they would've done.

Which is great, but I don't have a PAL TV :/

I don't have an NTSC TV, but I can play Region One DVDs...  Is there some other problem I don't know about?

According to Edgar's blog, he, Simon, and Jessica will also be on the commentaries.

As far as I was aware, there's a conversion issue about the number of lines or something? I know I've tried to play them in the past and get a weird black and white flickering image.

That's probably due to your DVD player.

Actually, i think those are just the souls of the damned trying to communicate with you through the TV set. It happens all the time... Your home wasn't built on an ancient Indian burial ground was it? I bet it was.

Imrahil, pretty much most Phillips DVD players have a code you can put in to make them region free and they convert pal --> NTSC. I have two Phillips DVD players (DVP 5960 & 5140) and I can play the Region 2 PAL Spaced on my NTSC LCD as well as my old 36" Tube with no problems.  Right now at Best Buy you can get the Phillips DVP3140/37 for $38 and from what I can tell on the net you can enter the hack code to make it region free.

You can make them region free but you can't make them NTSC. Sony won't even try to play PAL coded discs. You will always get that error with sony machines when trying to play pal.

See I've never had a Sony player but if I make a copy of a British disc, DVDshrink will strip off the regionally like a treat.
