Should I be frightened that I know EVERY song on Amandagal's mix, and absolutely none of the songs on any of the previous tapes? :^)

None? What kind of Hippy are you to not know a song from Hair? ;)

If you don't know who The Clash are, you should join me on Endor with the Ewoks!  We're braiding hair and saying our daily affirmations.

Yeah, I'm a Wilco junkie.  Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is genius as far as I'm concerned.

Wilco are Alt Country right? Any other recommendations? I really should find some good songs.

Yeah, I'd say they have a country sound to them.  I've been trying to pimp the new Ryan Adams album.  I love it.  I'm not big into his other stuff as much as this new one.  But anything Wilco is golden.  Yankee Hotel Foxtrot has a lot of experimental stuff on it.

They were alt-country.  Nowadays they're more alt, less country.

Perosnally, I'd recommend Summerteeth for starters, since it captures them in a more or less transitional phase, and highlights the best of both sides of the group.  From there, I'd head to Being There if you're more into the country, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot if you're more into the alt.

And now for something completely different :
Anime related music that's actually decent (at least in my opinion).
And yes, this is an actual mix cd of mine, even the song order is exact.

Anime Series - Song Title
[ Link to sample or full version, whichever I could actually find offhand that seemed best. ]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

===First, a section of upbeat orchestral / instrumental / jazz===

Earth Girl Arjuna OST 2 - Girl with Power
[ http://www.jameswong.com/ykproject/disc/disc.php?cd=arjuna2
(link is indirect, to a list of samples of music on that OST) ]

Read or Die OVA - Theme
[ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WH0zsABQiaQ
  (not full version) ]

Read or Die TV - Theme (I love Hong Kong remix)
(can't find remix, so here's the original, which is also good.
    not full version.) ]

Baccano - Guns & Roses
[ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AmmvJS05oo
  (not full version) ]

===Next, a section of Ghost in the Shell (TV) with its mix of English & Russian(?) vocals and unique music style that I can't quite catagorize, but whatever you call it, it's good, and Kanno Yoko (or Yoko Kanno, depending on how you prefer to say it.) is my idol. :D===

Ghost in the Shell:Stand Alone Complex OST 1 - Inner Universe
[ http://www.jameswong.com/ykproject/disc/disc.php?cd=standalone
(link is indirect, to a list of samples of music on that OST) ]
...or alternately:
  (full version) ]

Ghost in the Shell:Stand Alone Complex OST 2 - Rise
[ http://www.jameswong.com/ykproject/disc/disc.php?cd=standalone2
(link is indirect, to a list of samples of music on that OST) ]
...or alternately:
  (not full version) ]

Ghost in the Shell:Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society OST - Date of Rebirth
[ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_lfzr-ZE1U
(ignore the entirely unrelated (and horrible) anime in the video (Noein), music is
correct ghost in the shell music sample.
   full version.) ]

Ghost in the Shell:Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society OST - Replica
[ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iz4tdfqEsBM
  (full version) ]

Ghost in the Shell:Stand Alone Complex OST 3 - Dew
[ http://www.jameswong.com/ykproject/disc/disc.php?cd=standalone3
(link is indirect, to a list of samples of music on that OST) ]

===Lastly, a section of guitar-centric music===

Ghost in the Shell:Stand Alone Complex OST 1 - Yakitori (7+ mins instrumental only jam session)
...or alternately:
(full version. actually, this one is at 8+ mins. dunno why) ]

Witch Hunter Robin - Shell (instrumental, no vocal)
(couldn't find example with instrumental only, so here's the regular version with vocals.
   not full version.) ]

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei - Hito Toshite Jiku ga Bureteiru
[ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEpw6_PDX-o
  (full version) ]

Nana TV - Rose
[ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fp4F-lW5X6E
  (full version) ]

Nana TV - Ah Ah
[ can't find sample online ]

Nana TV - Lucy
[ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ZDVglKa5DM
  (full version) ]

Nana TV - I'm addicted to you
[ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwDeRjkeuVw
(video related to artist, not anime, but the song is correct.
   full version.) ]

Nana TV - Zero
[ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-4_rR2h40w
  (full version) ]

Black Lagoon - Red Faction
[ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpiFPXR606c
(video related to artist, not anime, but the song is correct.
   full version.) ]

I'm right there with ya, man.  Haven't heard of a lot of it, but anybody who puts Swirlies on a playlist is A-OK by me.
