I mean, how else are they going to beat off the jealous single people if you don't buy them weaponry, RvR? Sheesh...
Add a Dragon to their wish list perhaps.. :-X
They must be on that there Fantasy dust er some shit asking for crap like that for their wedding :o
One thing I've learned over the last 2 years and being widowed is the difference between Want and Need.. I mean they're asking for some realistic stuff (probably my former part time assistant is asking for that) but her future husband is more than likely the one asking for this other bizarre stuff.. ::)
They need to hit up the thrift stores IMHO..

My brother just got engaged, and so far, his fiancee has had to talk him out of about 50 weird ideas, and I can only imagine that this is going to pop up when it's time for them to register.

If I was a vampire and going to commit suicide, I would yell "Flame on!" right before jumping out into the sunlight.

While I was applying for jobs today, I realised I sent the same cover letter to each facility, and the letter was personalised for the hospital job I applied for. Think they'd buy that it was a mistake on my part and that I sent the wrong letters on accident, or should I just write those jobs off?

I'd contact them with a corrected letter. If it doesn't work, at least you tried.
FINE

Yes, fix it with HR before it goes to the hiring manager.

I've tried to describe what goes on in my head when I'm having a bipolar manic episode and here's a unique way I've found to describe it... it's almost like two demons chewing on my brain as if it were a gigantic and admittedly gross piece of taffy.

I have been writing snail mail letters to prisoners since November of last year.  So I write a lot of letters and use a lot of postage.  You would think that after several dozen letters, I would get better at folding paper to stick in envelopes.
I'm not particularly religious, and I don't really like Muppets, but I do love word play.

Yeah, here's the thing, I'm not sure I want to know why.

Yeah, here's the thing, I'm not sure I want to know why.

It's really quite the mundane reason and it's not that weird.

Back in November, I was listening to David Sedaris' audiobook of his journals, Theft By Finding.  Somewhere along the line he talks about a pen pal.  From there I decided a pen pal would be nice.

For many years I have been interested in prisons and had a desire to help prisoners in some way.  And I wanted to make friends.  So I went to a website called WriteAPrisoner.com, and went looking for some pen pals.  It's a mixed bag of results.  I have received replies from 11 different inmates and maintain regular correspondence with 4.  A lot of them reply once or twice but then never again.  There are some that I've exchanged E-Mails with but that kind of sucked.  One turned out to be a gold digger trading her attractiveness for money.  I mean, her profile outright said she used to do pornography.  And let me tell you that it was some really depressing pornography.  One was just kind of possessive and stupid.

Anyway, I do it to make friends.  I do it because I enjoy writing letters.  I enjoy receiving mail that isn't junk.  Lastly, it brightens up their day.

Um.. Prisoners are in jail for making other peoples lives miserable whether it be for minor infractions or major crimes and I don't think deserve attention from the general public..  :-\ This is just my opinion.
If I had a pen pal, I would rather have folks that were more 'positive' to write to but that's just me as I don't have any pen pals (other than you fine folks on this here forum ;D )

It really depends on what the person is in prison for.

There are plenty of other groups that do the pen pal thing.  You can write to shut-in senior citizens, kids in 3rd world countries learning English, etc...

I mean- I wouldn't write to mass murderers or anything, but there are a wide variety of people-who-screwed-up who would like to be reminded of the "people" part.

A lot of people on the outside make other peoples' lives miserable, usually just for fun or because they think they're doing the right thing.  I honestly see very little moral distance between the average prisoner and the average free person.  But really, most of these crimes you'd be hard pressed to categorize as "making other peoples' lives miserable".  One of them was part of a 52 person drug bust by the DEA for some meth manufacturing ring.  Another is in on a possession charge.  A third sold heroin for a while.  The thing is, when you get to know prisoners as people, and not some filthy underclass, you get to know some really nice people.
