Is there such a thing as a sitcom where the main character isn't a horrible person? Scrubs, Seinfeld, Arrested Development, Friends, Frasier... All of them not about good people, but hilarious. I actually can't think of a good one that isn't about a shitty person.

If you’re including shows that aren’t filmed in front of a studio audience like scrubs and AD, then Playing House comes to mind, that’s about two very good people and it’s also very funny. Kimmy Schmidt is about an unrealistically good person and is hilarious.

Pretty much any sitcom from the 80's back. The "Sitcom about a horrible person" thing caught on in the '90s sometime to retaliate against the wholesome sitcom families.

Are we counting animated sitcoms?  Because despite extreme character flaws, the Belchers from Bob's Burgers are good people.

Don't know how I forgot about some of these.

In other news, I'm in my CNA class and one of the kids in here is is younger than 9/11, which at once blows my mind and makes me feel like that scene of Matt Damon from Private Ryan where he ages.

I wouldn't put Friends on that list, they may act immature for the sake of comedy but I'd say they were all pretty nice people.  Frasier is a tough one, the characters are full of themselves but are they shitty people?

I guess the trend started with Cheers?  I was thinking Night Court but Dan Fielding was more comic book bad than the mean bad we see later.  Or maybe you have to go back to Taxi, Louie was a pretty terrible person.

Just read IHOP is changing their name to IHOb, but they won't say what the "b" stands for until next week.

Is Kathy Bates going to be their new spokesperson?

All in the Family, right? Or probably The Honeymooners.

Yeah, I guess there were plenty of sitcoms that had the one person like that.

As for The Honeymooners, Ralph was all talk, the "one of these days" never actually came around.
