Mine is named after Anais Nin. I did recently learn that Anais (pronounced Ah-ny-ees) is also a somewhat common named in Mexico.

The butterfly thing was covered well by LucasM I another thread.

Before my snappage it was anais.jude. The jude was a reference to Jude the Obscure and Hey Jude....not Jude Law.

Oh this is fun, let's continue :)
Anais is the Coolest Butterfly I know  ;D

Your last name is actually Basehart?  I just assumed it was an homage to Gypsy's love of Richard Basehart.

No, it's Sehart, his first name's Mrba.

We have a thread somewhere about meanings behind names.

Anyway mine came from an annoying attempt to sign in at Television Without Pity. They had some rule about not having "fanboy" type names (I don't know "Cap'n Picard Rules" perhaps? Something like that) so I initially went with Tripehound, which is a reference to the sidekick of the British version of Dennis the Menace. Only the system promptly refused to recognize my password. So I created a new account and added Redux to the end of the original one. I like it a fair amount; it's distinctive and seems significant while meaning almost nothing, but it's what I am all over the web. It replaced my old identity which was FraDickBurne up to that point.

I like it so much that my production company (which is me basically) is TripeHoundPreduxions.

Mine is what people actually call me. Mostly my wife, my in-laws, and friends from high school. I've also been curious how those online pronounce it. It rhymes with 'Pete'.
I generally think of it as the pet form for a German girl whose birth name it Katrina, Keh-tee. Will make mental amendments.

Mine is just something I came up with when I first signed up with Rifftrax Forums. But I like it so much now I use it a lot of other places online.

Huh. I don't remember that at all, though I know the episode.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/qMeMDX_QjoM" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/qMeMDX_QjoM</a>

32:30 - initial mention of getting him to stay.
43:00 - the skit.

Nice to hear that cleanly.  My tape is from the first airing, that is the episode they had some serious technical difficulties with the audio.  Haven't thought about my old MST3K audio clips page in a long time, but you can hear the difference in the clips from 901:

I think I'm going to go to the Salt Lake Comic Con tomorrow.  I wasn't planning on going, but then I heard that Kevin would be there.

Do animals actually make different sounds in different countries?  Like, do they have their own languages, even though they don't speak?

No, those are all how the people of the listed countries depict that sound that cats commonly make or, to put it another way; if you asked a person from that country to say what noise a cat makes, those would be the answers.

But....

It is possible that the same influences that caused humans to develop mulitple languages (isolation of groupings, geographical distance) might have led to distinction amongst the utterances of domestic animals as well, possibly. But that picture is about human language not any theoretical animal one. :)

I have a friend who has a cat that can answer "no" or rather "eeeh-No" when asked if she wants to do something she obviously doesn't want to do. So for example she loves to look outside at the world but will sit in apprehensive near catatonia when faced with an doorway to that outside world. At which point my friend will ask her if she wants to go outside and she will answer "eeeh-No" and wait until the door is closed before moving away.

Not related but a cute story that I thought I'd share. :)
