Is it just me, or are motivational speakers completely full of shit?  It seems they oversimplify the complex nature of life's challenges with catchy phrases and buzz words, and often by simply dismissing them as irrelevant.  The attitude seems to be "all your problems are irrelevant.  You just need to THINK your way around them and everything will go great."

Am I generalizing too much?  Or is that just the way they are?

No, that is pretty much it. And really, whether the system they are telling you about does work or not, they are ultimately salesmen. So it is their job to be overly enthusiastic and accentuate the positives. To a point that often anyone with any objective stance tends to be put off.

Cyanide and Happiness is doing another Depressing Comic Week. I don't think I've had so many sad "ohhhhh"s pass through my mouth since I ate that bowl of Cheerios using tears instead of milk.

Most of them are charlatans that capitalize on the vulnerable. Kind of like "psychics".

I went to a chiropractor back in April. I swear, his cracking my neck is what brought back repressed memories. It was freaky.

Ouch. Like Jacob's Ladder?  Did you remember that you've been shot in the gut?

Oh no....um, references to what I remembered are in the RRRRARGH and Acute Physcological Distress thread....needless to say, it is probably just as hardcore as Jacob's Ladder (the memory is hardcore, the probably is in reference to Jacob's Ladder)

Note to self: benedryl has ALWAYS made you drowsy. Even when you were taking tons of it, you were drowsy. Keep non drowsy allergy medication in your desk so you don't have to put up with being INCREDIBLY drowsy. It doesn't matter how much caffeine you have, either. It'll never counteract the amount of tired that you'll be facing.

In case you can't tell, I REALLY hate benedryl. I ran out of my other allergy med a while ago, but it's been dipping below 30 most nights, and my allergies are usually better in the winter, so I slacked on taking my Zyrtec. This morning, however, there was SOMETHING in the air that completely WRECKED me. Even through meds, I'm sneezing like crazy. It's not a cold, either, because I feel completely fine, barring the benedryl side effects and the nose blockage.

I vote we have a nuclear war to destroy all the plants. I never saw anyone sneezing in the Fallout games...
