Just came up with an idea for a reboot of the Tall Man for today's hip kids:

Nick & Nora's Infinite Wine List

Will it prominently feature the divine voluptuousness of Kat Dennings?

You know, Two Broke Girls is terrible, but I can't stop watching it, because of her.

She's hard not to stay tuned for isn't she?

Hope she had some decent screen time in what Ann refers to as Loki III.

That show reminds me of that Chinese restaurant where they had awful food but customers queueing up round the block. Turns out

I don't think heroin has any effect if you just eat it.

Oh, I think it does. Just not a pleasant one.

I have a really good friend who is retiring this week, and I'm trying to think of a gift I can get him.  He's talked about writing a book.  Any ideas?  I was thinking about getting him some sort of leather manuscript holder, but I haven't had luck finding one.

Oberon makes journal covers, if that's what you have in mind.  They do nice leather work, got my kindle cover from them.

Those are pretty cool.  I'm looking for something that could hold pages that you've printed out.  It looks like this is all covers for prebound journals and pads.

Something like this might work:

You mean like a manilla envelope and some binder clips?

First day of the semester at Delaware Technical and Community College.  I'm doing most of my education at nearby Wilmington University, but also taking 1 class (an advanced Java and software engineering type course) here, just because I think the quality of instruction is superior and it's information that would be useful to learn.  Aside from that, I come here on days when I don't have classes to sit in the library and work on assignments.  I like to leave the house at 7:40 or 8:10, do an hour's workout in the gym, catch the bus at 9:20 or 9:50, and leave at some time between 4:00 and 6:00 (depending on when the library closes and how much work I have to do).

So since the Fall semester is starting today, the place is lively and packed with students.  Many of them are fresh high school graduates, though being a community college a fair number are also my age (early 30s) and older.  It's kind of nice to see this place alive and hopping again.  There were some students during the summer session, but not nearly as many, and the past 3 weeks has been virtually empty because there were no classes at all during semester break.  But I was here at least 2 days a week.  It triggers a quasi-hipster instinct in me.  I'm like "Oh, you're coming here now, in late August?  I've been here every week all summer.  Posers!"

I enjoy the routine.  I feel like I back myself into something of a corner taking the bus here.  I commit to staying at least until the earliest express buses come (at 4:15 PM) and no later than when the last one leaves (at 6:10 PM).  If I really wanted to commit, I could take the bus straight from home instead of from the Park and Ride.  Only the number 16 express bus goes near my home and when I take that I'm pretty firmly locked in to staying to a certain time.

I get a lot of work done, free from the distractions of my TV and video games at home, and with the timetable I've built for myself.  I can't imagine being one of those students who comes in for class, then immediately goes home, or even worse, the kind who habitually skips class.
