Y'know, it's funny, I had no clue how many locals were 'big deals' until one of my other treating professionals (back around 2000-2001) told me that Joseph LoDuca - who wrote and performed all the 'Westernized World' music for both Raimi's Hercules and Xena TV series - was a family friend and would come to her house for their annual Christmas party, and he would play piano while they sang carols. :o

'Six degrees of separation' and all that.  [Heck, these are only two.]

I did - particularly before I went: I thought they were all quacks.  But medical doctors got me no relief whatsoever, and the medical model physical therapy I had made things worse (i.e. more painful, with decreased strength because each rep of an exercise pinched the nerves further).  Then three independent treating professionals (none who knew the others) recommended the same chiropractor.  With that kind of convergence of opinion, I tried him.

All I know is I can clearly feel pinched nerves before I go, and clearly feel limitations to my range of motion, and they are no longer pinched when I leave and my head can move fairly freely.  It's pretty clear-cut.  [My mood and concentration also go to hell if any of the nerves between the occiput and C3 are pinched.  That can literally go away within a minute of those vertebrae being freed up.]  Whatever rationale they give for how that happens I don't care about.  I can't do exercises to strengthen my neck and back if I can't move them (or 'if I can't move them without screaming in pain and injuring myself further').

So it seems to me that if one has injured paraspinal muscles and ligaments that won't allow the vertebrae to stay in place well enough to keep nerves from being pinched by them, then there may be little other recourse.  I'm kind-of an empiricist with this.

There are a huge number of massively bad ones (I went to one briefly when mine was not available; it was very clear, very quickly, that he was one of those giving their profession a bad name).  The one I have now is pretty good, not outrageously good like the original one, but the original one no longer practices.

Just saw a lovely little play called Dirty Great Love Story.  It's a romantic comedy performed entirely in rhyme:

It won the Fringe First Award last year and it was fantastic.  It's actually playing in New York for anyone who's around there in June.

She's super dorky in the play too, which makes her adorable.

I think she's cool.  She's smart, pretty, and slightly mad.

My pest control guy is crazy.  He has to make the most uncomfortable small talk.  Last time he went on about how they haven't released Obama's birth certificate and he doesn't believe he was born in the U.S.  I had no idea there were black people who believed that... my pest control guy breaks some stereotypes I guess.  This time he was going on about how all the cereal in my cupboard is from Monsanto and it's going to give me cancer.  Which is definitely a step down in crazy because there's probably truth to it, but still quite uncomfortable conversation to have, especially as he sprays shit designed to kill bugs all over my kitchen that will probably give me cancer anyway.

I think he spends too much time on conspiracy forums and inhaling harmful chemicals.  Poor guy.  He does a good job though, and he is reasonably priced, so I guess I can put up with the latest internet outrage every four months or so.

Maybe I'm just bored, but it's sort of amusing to swap the quotation marks around in this.
