Ok.. For those who don't know, my small business caters to the Spanish-speaking community. One of the many services we provide includes assistance with paying traffic tickets.
Well, This customer got a $240 dollar ticket the end of December, 2013 in Charlotte, North Carolina for speeding 10 miles per hour or under. He missed the January 31 court date and now South Carolina DMV has sent him a letter suspending his license until the NC ticket is paid.. Well first off, he doesn't have a license in any state. He can't get one in either NC or SC because of his immigration status (I've already talked about this issue in the past so I won't go into that can of worms again)..
So because he missed his court date, NC has tacked on an additional $210.90 for Failure to Appear in court for a grand total of $450.90 to remove the bench warrant now issued for his arrest.
Once the ticket is paid, we need to contact the DMV in Raleigh, NC and request a 'Compliance Notice' that must be taken to any local SC DMV to remove the warrant from their record in the event he's pulled over for driving in SC (because I guess SC won't accept the paid receipt from NC as evidence), to clean up his record.
The moral of the story here boys and girls is DON'T MISS YOUR COURT DATE!
