I don't mean to sound sexist but I've never really found female comedians to be at the same level of funniness as male comedians.

no offence Bridget

The fact that female comedians are highly out numbered might have something to do with it.  I've only seen a few female comedians that I like but I've seen probably an equal number of male comedians that I hate to the number of females I don't like.  That being said Sarah Silverman is easily in my top ten.
I'm sure it does. #1 & #2 I just started watching the Sarah Silvermen and ya she's cute and funny in her own way. I'd like to see some of her stand-up if there's any out there

I actually don't find Silverman that funny... I think her approach to comedy is similar to what KISS's approach was to music.

I haven't had time to watch "next" yet.  Is this a chick flick.  If not I was curious why this discussion started here?  Or is it a chicktrax because Bridget is riffing?

Not a chick flick by any stretch of the imagination.  I think we wandered into these waters because several posters had never heard Bridget riff until she did this dude flick.

I can't believe that you just disrespected KISS like that! Seriously though, i don't find Sarah Silverman funny either. Her schtick is tiresome, and it seems like she's just aiming to be offensive in order to make stupid teenage boys laugh. Speaking of offensive humor and Sarah Silverman, i remember that her scene in The Aristocrats completely stopped the film dead in it's tracks. An entire theater of people that had been laughing through most of the film just stopped when her bit came on.

While I find this to be true for myself as well, I've always more or less assumed that this is because I am a man, and am thus more susceptible to male-oriented humor.  I'm also pretty sure I don't get Tyler Perry and Martin Lawrence because I'm not black, and that I don't get Rob Schneider or Adam Sandler because I'm not a drooling moron.  Presumably these people are hilariously funny to their target audiences.

Her only stand up special I've been able to find is "Jesus is Magic" and it jumps between stand up and skits similar to the songs that break out during the show.  She also stole the show IMO in the documentary "The Aristocrats."

Best thing I could come up with was he was teaching a class and wanted to show an example of racist propoganda...

I know you were half joking. But as a film student, i just have to chime in to say that Birth Of A Nation is a landmark in film history... especially for editors. To dismiss it as being only useful as a piece racist propaganda is pretty far off the mark.

True enough, if I remember correctly this was the first true full length feature film, and thus it has a place in history, but I still can't imagine watching it for any other reason other to see how ignorant and racist it is.

Hey whats wrong with liking Adam Sandler!? "What the Hell Happened to Me?" is one of my all-time favorite CDs.

Also, Sarah Silverman is hilarious  :P

Still "meh" after seeing the clips

Although I do find her funnier than 75% of Jim Carrie's films

That's correct.

Wow, I post, go out of town, and come back to find a two-page thread! Much more than I expected. To all of you guys who were brave enough to rent Grey's for the sake of RiffTrax, you have my respect!  ;D

For me, I just haven't gotten around to the chick flicks yet.  I started with the riffs of movies I already own, then picked up a few I spotted on the shelf at local stores.  I'm sure I'll eventually get to Greys and even to Glitter.  The preview clips for both looked hilarious.
