I got the Roadhouse one first, but for one reason or another have yet to listen to it, the film just hasn't been in stock at the Blockbuster.  (Hmm, maybe local rifftrax fans?)  But 5th Element is the first RT I experienced, and I dug it, in spite of (or because of) being a fan of the movie itself.  If someone is a hardcore fan of the movie, the riffing might get on their nerves, because it does point out some of the absurdities/inconsistencies.

First pick for a complete riffing newb?  Maybe not.  I start my friends on "Manos" the Hands of Fate.  If they live, they are almost always addicted.  If not...  ::) Oh well.  ;D

I don't know if I read this right but if I did, then I agree with mixed up zombie. If you want to introduce people to Rifftax, then you should first introduce them to MST3K. Show them some of the best episodes and if they like it tell them about Rifftrax.

I think it depends on the person.  My boyfriend likes RiffTrax more than MST3K because he doesn't particularly get the host segements, and while the RiffTrax movies are cheesy, they are more modern and tend not to be Manos-level bad.  I'm actually planning on trying to convert some of my non-MSTie friends in this fashion.

I don't like Manos actually, becuase the movie is so bad, I can't enjoy the riffing.  I like to use Prince of Space, or Mitchell, or Girl In Gold Boots as initiation to MST3K.

My pick would be Overdrawn at the Memory Bank but that's just me.

I usually turn to Time Chasers to initiate.  Color movie... outstanding riffs...clever host segments...one of the all-time best!

Three different people, I used Eegah to initiate into MST3K, and they all liked it. My ex-girlfriend, I used the MST3K motion picture ("This Island Earth"). She would have come over to watch more, but we broke up.

I thought it was an odd choice for a second effort, since it's not as much a bad movie as it is a stupid one, but I watched and thoroughly enjoyed.  I think it's safe to say that this one, while perhaps not exactly what one would expect, isn't going to scare any newbies away.

Also, "That is so gay I believe it circles around back into heterosexual" is one of the funniest things I've heard all year.

First time buyers should look to Star Trek V.

I agree that Star Trek V was really funny, but will that get them used to two riffers, when there's usually only one?  Might be a big let down.

I would recommend it if it wasn't for Disembaudio. I neither like the sync points nor the "riffing" it does. The Fifth Element would make a fine choice for first-timers if it wasn't for the akward Disembaudio rants. I'd rather have quality, not quantity.

A terrible movie that could not be saved by Mike Nelson's phoned-in riffing.
my entry made my girlfriend laugh a few times, the best I can hope for really.

I'd say Whalberg definately qualifies as really good.

This was my first Rifftrax and I have to say that I loved it. I was looking forward to it since they attacked the trailer of 5th Element in the Summer Blockbuster special for MST3K. And for the record, I actually enjoyed the banter between Disembaudio and Mike . . . even if he does sound like Bob the Tomato.  :P

This was my second Riff....I enjoyed it.......somewhat. Disemboudio ruined it  little. His bantering about NOT making fun of KFed...ugh...but yeah....Its a shame that Mike was the only one Riffing, Kevin Sadly couldnt make it I guess.... Would of made it a LOT better

Mike's solo efforts are actually some of my favorites.  Try "Cocktail"!
