Stephen Colbert's I Am America (And So Can You!)
« on: October 09, 2007, 12:30:45 PM »
3 words-3 syllables-3 letters: Get this book!

If you enjoyed America the Book, you will love this. One of the funniest satires I have read in a while. And very fresh, I'd say about 93% of it is new material.

I should pick up the audiobook as well. Good stuff. Here's a sample.

I've laughed my head off only seeing the front, back, and inside covers.

The funniest thing I have seen in a long time was the back inside cover:

About the Author:

Stephen Colbert is America.

 :D

Can't wait to start reading it. Just have to get a bunch of other crap out of the way. I'll probably start tonight.

Would I miss other awesome pictures if I decided to get the audiobook? I'd probably have to import the thing if I wanted to read it.  I'm possibly one of a handful of people who know Colbert over here.   :)

Tradeoff. You import the book from US to UK, and I'll import Happyslapped By A Jellyfish from UK to US.

That way we will be bonded by our inconvenience.  ;)

Other awesome pictures, lets see. You would miss how Stephen properly illustrates how to retire his book after reading(much like the folding of an american flag).

And everything else in the book. I would say it's got 3/4 the amount of pictures in America the book, which is still a hell of a lot.

Plus a page of Red and Blue reminder stickers, such as:
USA! USA!
Prime Filet
It's Morning In Colbert-ica
Tatoo This On Denise!

Also a $0.75 off coupon for "Stephen Colbert's Age-Defying Protein Pudding"

and a fun maze entitled "Help the Old Man Find Happiness" with exits to Jesus, Denny's, Werther's Originals, Jack Daniels, A slot machine, a call from grandson, and Florida.

So yeah, pick it up.

In fact, the pictures are just as funny as the reading.

I was wondering how well Colbert's style would translate to the book.  I knew he contributed to America the Book, but I wasn't sure how much.  From the sound of it I need this book badly.  Looks like I'm running to B&N with my next paycheck.

I've only been able to read the 1st 5 pages. I've been too busy to sit down and knock it out. And it pains me.

Especially know that I can be reading the autobiography of a presidential candidate...          in South Carolina.  :D

When I've go time to read, I'm usually trying to catch up on my latest issues of Discover and Cosmos magazines. Once I finish those, I'll probably get to that.
