The CW is Pulling the Plug on Kids' WB (1995-2008)
« on: October 03, 2007, 03:05:39 PM »
Kids' CW was the only over-the-air outlet left that produced an original, in-house (as opposed to leasing the schedule to the highest bidder) Saturday morning line-up.

Network shutting down Kids' WB! franchise

Quote
The CW announced late Tuesday it will shut down the nearly 13-year-old Kids' WB! franchise at the end of this season and turn Saturday mornings over to 4Kids Entertainment, which has handled Fox's Saturday morning kids block for the past six years.

I never saw any shows from this... were they actually any good?

I miss the days when cartoons were drawn by hand instead of done in flash.

Ah well. Here in Atlanta, the local CW station was running the KidsWB! lineup on Sunday.

Yeah,  somewhat, The Batman, Loonatics Unleashed, and Legion of Super-Heroes, which all got panned at the outset of their premiers for their art style to me are pretty well written.  My only concern is if 4kids takes over Saturday mornings at the CW,  what's to become of their Saturday morning lineup on Fox?

This just goes to show why now, more than ever, we need Freakazoid! and Earthworm Jim on DVD.

Well I for one don't see how anything can possibly go wrong, unless they sloppily edit some wildly popular japanese anime series, giving them dorky american names. Yes, I think things should go fine, unless they are adled enough to remove virtually any trace of overt violence either actual or implied, change the actor's voices periodically and without warning.  Just so long as they don't take away their weapons and replace them with day-glo super soakers, then no worries.  And most likely they would never, ever, under any circumstances, stop airing episodes1/3 to 1/2 of the way through the season, because the ratings got a smidge iffy, or because they were cheap bastards that didn't buy rights to the entire series.....

...

Oh wait...

I could do without "The Batman" personally, never could sit through a full episode of it.  I mean, why the hell is the Joker half-gorilla?  I miss the 90s Batman animates series with a passion.

Still sucks that another shovel of dirt is being heaped on the traditional saturday morning cartoon concept though.

Yeah.  There were some great shows back in the old days.  Why don't we all list off some random Saturday Morning cartoons that we remember.

Remember Wish Kid?  The one with Macauley Culkin, who had a baseball glove that granted wishes?  Remember?  Do you?  DO YOU?!!!

Haha, The Batman. "Oh no, now the Joker knows kung-fu! And so does the Riddler! And Catwoman! And... the Penguin?"

You mean Batman Beyond?  That was a pretty neat little series.  Still prefer the older Batman Animated Series, but Beyond was an interesting addition.  Especially gotta love the Return of the Joker movie though.  Some of Mark Hamil's best work ever there.
