Reb Brown is back in action!
« on: October 20, 2006, 11:41:34 PM »
Since I see Space Mutiny if freqently referenced on these boards, I thought all you Reb Brown fanatics might want to know his first movie in like 8 years is coming out soon.  It's called Sin-Jin Smyth and he co-"stars" with the man himself, Roddy Piper.  It is a riffing goldmine, although you'll have to do the riffing yourself because there is less than a snowball's chance in hell that rifftrax would have anything to do with it.

By the way, Reb Brown is main character of Space Mutiny if you hadn't assumed that from the post.  Of course you may know him better as Elmo Hacker from Three's Company or Captain America from the fantastic 1979 TV movie.

It's been a few years since "They Live"... I hope he's up to the task :)

Sin-Jin Smyth

Cool, thanks for the info.  I once dated a big fan of They Live, so we would seek out Roddy's other cinematic offerings like Jungleground and Sci-Fighters and stuff.

If they ever put out a Roddy DVD boxed set, I could have something good for the "DVDs You are Embarrassed to Own" thread. ;)  I kid you, Mr. Piper -- don't hit! (I notice Roddy has a screen credit for "Walker, Texas Ranger," so perhaps he's in your boxed set of that, Mr. Bakasan...?)

Also in this new movie is Jeff Conaway, from TV's Taxi and the short-lived swords-and-sandals/D&D show that some people remember, Wizards and Warriors

Unfortunately, that episode isn't in there, but I have seen it.  I think he played a retired boxer or something.  It was one of the funnier episodes, actually.

Sci-fighters, interestingly enough, I bought because I thought it would be really bad.  I actually genuinely enjoyed that one.

whaaaa?  Jonathan Davis from Korn plays a profesional beach volleyball player who also happens to be the devil?
(Sinjin Smith is the name a pro volleyball player from 80's-90's. I remember first seeing his name in an old NES volleyball game)

also, I'm glad Piper is in another movie. I've always been a big fan of his. In my opinion the best pro wrestler turned actor (with maybe the exception of Terry Funk)

and you know what, I think I remember seeing this movie teased like 5 or 6 years ago for some reason. all wierd. I must see this movie!

As I was reading that I just now realized that Terry Funk was in Road House as one of the bouncers.  Although, Roddy Piper does tend to get more leading roles than the Funk.

That is entirely too much Space Mutiny backstory. Yup, my head exploded. :D
