I really liked the line "I don't know why I agreed to move in with my realtor."

That was good, yeah!

I'd always thought of Halloween when passing Haddonfield, NJ.  Turns out the producer was from there and named the town in the film after it.

In actuality the movie was shot in some part of Hollywood.  As Mike and Kevin pointed out, it's the part that has various time and climate zones within it.

The quick reveal shot of an adult Michael Myers lifting up his mask turns out to be the brother of Erin Moran, tv's "Joanie" from Happy Days.  Maybe he was the oldest brother that we never saw on that show...

So, who actually brings a pumpkin to school?

Maybe he won the pumpkin at school when he was voted "Most Likely to be Picked on."

I don't know about you guys but I'm gonna go buy some tickets for High School!

It's funny.  I've watched Halloween many times before and I never noticed that before.  Hilarious.

I think that this was one of the funniest Rifftrax Mike's done so far.  Now I can't wait for Matrix.  Bring it on!
Imrahil: Don't care about Riding with Death.

Bob: Turkey.

Action Batch:  Woah, let's all mellow out and rap about this.

I always love it when they make music references during a riff, such as the Janis Ian and Sheriff references during this, or the Talking Heads reference during X Men.

Speaking of which, did you catch the Radiohead reference in Halloween?

When Jamie's friend tries to confront Michael Myers behind the hedge, she shouts "listen, creep!" and Mike says Thom Yorke?

  ;D

Yeah, I noticed that one too but forgot to mention it in my post.  One thing I didn't like about the Janis Ian riff was that Kevin pointed out it was a Janis Ian reference.

I'd seen Halloween multiple times, but Rifftrax made it fresh and memorable. One of my favorite scenes was one of the (many) extended walking bits where Kevin keeps saying,"Okay, now...cut! Cut! Okay. Now....Cut! " That was great.

This one isn't in my top 5, but it's still a great movie with great riffing. Watching the movie after so long also reminded me about how the pacing of movies has changed, where everything is very rapid and in your face. Give me that old school horror with subtle build-up.

Great Rifftrax - But you have to question the filmmaker's motives.

It seems to be a nerdy revenge against classmates who got laid in high school.

I guess John Carpenter wasn't a very popular young man.

90% of horror movies involve the smart, clean living virgin surviving while anyone who has sex or does dugs is killed.  Slashers are basically morality tales at their core.

On the DVD extras, Carpenter is quoted as making an argument that the bond between the heroine and the killer are that they are both shy, withdrawn, 'repressed' people who are more watching life than living it.

It's maybe a bit of a stretch, but the killer could be interpreted as her suppressed anger acting out on her 'friends' who are more engaged in teenage living, and who also look down on her and treat her less than stellar (as Mike and Kevin point out).

And once again P.J. Soles (Carrie) pays the price.

Well, I mean, who wouldn't want to kill P.J. Soles?
A wizard did it.

Joe Don, I live near Haddonfield NJ, my own self.  I also think of the movie whenever I drive by.  Interesting...

Also, to the point about the morality play of slasher pics, yes, that concept has been discussed over and over in film classes and in books and essays on the subject.  It was picked over ad infinitum all during the late 80's early 90's.  It's actually quite fascinating.  At first, even the film makers didn't realize they were doing it, (like it was just a psychological response) but then it became a staple and was even parodied several times, so it lost it's mystique.

I think Stephen King once commented that slasher pics were the most puritanical of films because of the zeal with which they punished "sinners".  hehe...

Just watched it last night and I LOVED it! I avoid horror movies like the plague because I'm too easily grossed out, so was relieved that it was so tame, and the riffing was top notch!  I'm still laughing thinking about a chicken on the piano. I agree Kevin sounded more Servo-ish. The scenes with the three girls despising each other reminded me fondly of similar MST scenes, like in Merlin when John McEnroe talks with his psychic friend, and Tom's going, "you stupid bastard, I could stab your eyes out, so help me god!"  Hee hee. And the acting was sooooo bad--I can't believe it was considered a legitimate horror classic. The fuzzy-haired girl read her lines almost exactly like the chick in Touch of Satan. Anyhoo--possibly my favorite rifftrax to date!  Thanks Mike and Kevin!   :D

Oh--who is the Olympic gymnast they mention when the dead guy swings out of the closet? Kurt someone? That whole scene cracked me up--"Half of me, take half of me!"

ROFL-- LOL-- etc. that's one of my favorite MST moments as well, in "Merlin's Mystical Shop of Wonders" with the claravoiant on the park bench.  YOU STUPID BASTARD... oh my god, it makes me laugh every time... just thinking about it... nicely remembered, sir/madam, (Heysie could go either way, don't want to offend), Bravo or Brava!

Did anyone notice if Mike and Kev did a Telefon reference when Donald was in the phone booth, near the beginning, by the abandoned red pickup truck?  Kevin recited a bit of poetry there, but it didn't seem to be from the "miles to go before I sleep" Robert Frost refrain that Donald dishes out over many a payphone in Telefon.
