Film Crew Theme Song
« on: September 17, 2007, 08:11:10 AM »
Am I the only one who finds the farty music of  the Film Crew DVDs even more obnoxious than the hold tunes of the Rifftrax intro?  It sounded like Joel performed it on the pork-orina.

Then again, perhaps I'm just spoiled by the Clowns In the Sky days... since the cast is so musically talented, it makes me expect a lot more, I guess.

"...hold please..."

Yeah, it's pretty annoying.  But theme music has never been a strong point for these guys. Yes, I think the mst3k theme music it pretty lame too.

Hehe, I actually snorted here at work reading that.

Whaaaaaaat? The original intro music with Joel is timeless and after hearing it hundreds and hundreds of times I still love it, like the Kids In the Hall theme. Change your attitude, young man.

I know, I am ashamed.  Being a mstie you'd think I'd have to love it, right?  I just don't.

I think the mst3k theme music is ok, the theme lyrics are pretty uncreative...especially in the Mike years.  Sorry :)

The Film Crew and Rifftrax both sound like someone was playing with the audio software.

Oh, feel free to appreciate the boingery!  I am actually glad you typed that, Rude, because I think you've hit on exactly why I don't like it.  Not a fan of the boinging; to me it's far too in-your-face, all "GET READY FOR SOME BIG-TIME ZANYNESS!!" It's like the Catalina Caper of theme songs.  I hate being told when to find something funny.

But perhaps the music is an ironic statement, in which case it's awesome.

Really? You feel like the music is telling you that you'd better find The Film Crew funny? Like it's forcing you?
You don't hear voices telling you to kill me, do you?

Seriously though, comedies with weird theme songs have always kinda' creeped me out. I think it comes from back when i was a kid, and Taxi used to come on really late at night after all the other funny sitcom-type shows. But i didn't watch it for years because that opening theme song was depressing and it freaked me the hell out as kid. And there's lots of shows like that: MASH, Cheers, Extras.

Depressing theme song music for sitcoms and comedies have never sat well with me.
I'm just fine with the boing-y.

Not a fan of that song. I keep the sound down during it.
Too boingy, too forcefully zany.

I can't say I ever really noticed it.  I'm too busy thinking, "Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! Another Film Crew movie!"  :)

Hopefully you've heard the film version of the MASH theme song that has lyrics to it.  If you haven't, well, the version you've heard is the like the Looney Tunes theme compared to that.

Yeah... singing "Suicide is painless" right before MASH came on every week always got me in the mood for some funny hijinks.  ;)

MST3K Theme > Film Crew theme > Rifftrax theme

I dig the zaniness of the music. :^)
