I got kind of sick of the "cutesy" I have all respect for Rowling as a good writer. There were moments in the series that were truly horrific, but as she became more popular and best selling... like Stephen King, they stopped editing her and she went on and on and on with the cutesy and the pseudo-latin phrases and the obvious mythological references....

OY! The movies were the worst, but the books!

Well, I guess I wouldn't have every single one of them in hard-back if I didn't like something about them... still...

Ghostbusters.

This is officially the 10th year running I've watched it on Halloween. Projected it via an HD projector so it was about 8-9 feet across; a bunch of kids made disgusted noises when they heard what movie I was showing, and I asked if they'd ever seen it. "NO! It's LAME."

Fucking teenagers.

Anyway, I really appreciated the physical comedy performances this time around, and really appreciated Ramis' in particular.  Love the flick.

(for the record, there were a few kids who stuck it out and loved it).

I hate teenagers.  They would mock one of the great masterpieces of comedy, yet would go watch some Adam Sandler schlock.

My friend Mark always loved the exclamation "DOGS AND CATS--LIVING TOGETHER... total chaos!" He would use it whenever anything went wrong in our lives, a picnic, or a bar-b-que... Oh, how we would laugh...

Shut up, Swipe, I'm being vulnerable, here...

BTW, those pics are awesome!

He's dead now. But he never drank much.... Oh his spirit is on it's way to you, now... be prepared for his VENGANCE! No... Mark would never hurt you, he was a teddy bear.... I was trying to kid... As the tears well up in my eyes...

*sob*

He was a very good man, and very clean! He would probably clean up your room, if he was a ghost!

Alexander and the Terrible, Not Good, various synonyms for Bad Day
Enjoyable for the 8-12 year old crowd, much in the spirit of those old timey live-action Disney movies from the 60s/70s... The formula has been updated just enough to keep cynical adults from dozing off, but yea, probably not much here for the post-puberty crowd.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
A great cast with a strong script doing really good work... Although clearly driven by old pros like Caine and Martin, the relatively unknown Glenne Headly more than holds her own in a great conman comedy. I found out it was going to be available on November 1st from Netflix streaming and watched it November 1st. While I don't really consider it an "80s comedy" it is one of my favorite comedies to spawn from that decade.... Even with the unfortunate scene of lily white Steve Martin in a speedo...

The Immovable Torg!

I love "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" and all "con" movies in general. David Mammet's "House of Cards" or "Spanish Prisoner", "Scoundrels..." was light and funny, but I like the darker stuff, too.

Haven't finished watching Prisoner of Azkaban but I like it quite a bit so far. I was really surprised that some darker elements made it into the film, especially certain tragic ones. :(
